Haven't been here in years because I thought I hated it, but my taste buds must have changed ! Ordered a cup of clam chowder and it was the perfect amount & tasty. For dinner I ordered the steak salad but with no tomatoes and add avocado. I think the avocado is very crucial. The salad was soooo good I ate way more than I planned. The steak was good also my boyfriend ate most of mine lol. Boyfriend ordered the two steaks wrapped in bacon with side of baked potato and a side Caesar salad and he really enjoyed his food. I'm not always in the mood for meat so this salad was perfect and next time I might just omit the steak itself. Anyways, I think we would definitely come back again. Oh, and service was also really good too :)

I'm not sure what happened compared to the other positive reviews, but service was horrendous tonight. At least 15 minutes to be greeted at the table. No silverware or napkins until after salads were served and consumed. Three requests before getting water. Never received the replacement knife and fork requested after the originals unrolled from the napkin and fell to the floor. The food earned 3 1/2 stars, but service and manager indifference bring it to only 2 overall.

My bf and I went here last nite for dinner and although I was taken by their attentiveness and hospitality, the food was disgusting. I had a ceasar's salad my companion had salad as well... that was probably the only satisfying part of our whole meal. But then how can you screw up.on salad anyway. But then again how the hell can you screw up a ribeye cooked medium rare? Simple. Cook up old, not aged, OLD frozen/thawed out/frozen again meat and try to sell it like it is the best 32-something $ steak you have ever had in your life. The well trained "enthusiastic" server did a good job of selling me on that (so much so that we felt bad for him for working here with his sales talent that we ended up leaving him with a $20 tip. It was so pathetic.) I felt like the general manager who kept coming to our table to make us feel welcomed was simply just trying to distract us from the poor quality of the food. So it didn't surprise me (I know, I'm being terrible for saying) when he offered us free dessert on the house for being first time customers. Omg just reentering the whole scenario to write this makes me cringe. Pitiful. I would not recommend this place. I'm so sorry. I realize they tried, hence the 2 star rating. My advice is you don't waste your money here.

This place has intrigued for years and we finally broke down and tried them for lunch. Interior of restaurant resembles a log cabin, spacious with lots of booths. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. It was a calamari steak breaded in panko crumbs. It was crispy, buttery and came with capers. The steak was tender melt in your mouth goodness. I had buffalo wings for lunch. The wings were crispy but only 7 for 10.99 left us wondering who ate my other wings. Service is good and price is fair.

This place has intrigued us for quite some time, mostly due to the decor. Decided to go for lunch. Inside the place is spacious, you walk through "Lake Tahoe" (painted on the floor). There are many booths and tables and a nice bar. The atmosphere feels like you are in a ginormous log cabin. We ordered the calamari to start. This isn't your typical fried calamari rings. This is a whole steak, encrusted with macadamia nuts, pan fried with lemon and a few capers. Delish! Just wish there were more capers. I ordered the unlimited soup and salad. You get a choice of 2 scratch made soups and a couple different salads. The crust less chicken pot pie soup was outstanding, and my salad was good, with a citrusy vinaigrette and Gorgonzola. I could have included raises and candied walnuts but they are not for me. We'll be back, when we are feeling outdoorsy!

Walked in for the first time and my reaction was... "Feels like an Outback and Black Bear diner merged". Seated quickly, Chuck was a great server and service was very good. Cook on my New York was over, but still tasty. Not sure why they're touting 'corn fed' beef, but with the dry aging, it was pretty good. Sides and salads were very good and I appreciate the prompt for ingredient preferences for even the garden salads. I don't eat raw onions and for some crazy reason, my wife doesn't eat tomatoes. We usually push them aside but I appreciate how Chuck asked if all were to be included. I had the mountain mashers and q had the baked potato as a side. I also like the table side baked potato topping (got to sneak a few bites) 4.5 stars. Steak could have been better, but loved the service and will definitely come back again.

Their Rib Eye is aged for 28 days & Corn Fed fr the Mid West. Being a Steak Lover.. Have to try their Rubicon Rib Eye: their special & 22oz bone in. Meat is very good unfortunately not cook to the way I like it but, the service is absolutely too good to be true. When Tommy heard I was not that satisfied, he insists that it was not acceptable to them. My Rubicon Rib Eye was sooooo good & perfectly cooked - Med to Med Well. Juicy & the fat grilled perfectly where it added more flavor. Mama Mia 'twas that good!!! What made this experience Grander is the attention given accordingly & the outstanding customer service shown to us. My First Choice & Recommendation to my fellow Carnivores. Tommy Thank You!!! You made me a Tahoe Joe Lover! Thank you too Danika for being a wonderful waitress as well!!! Tommy really practiced Tahoe Joe's Motto: Quality Food, Hospitality & A Place People would like to be!!!

2nd time here. Nit for those on a diet but great for those with a large group of carnivores. Both times i've come here with a large group of teenage boys who want ribs or steak after playing a baseball game. Half slab of ribs is about $16. Full is $22. They have a large patio outside for groups which is nice for warm days and nights Drinks come in large jars and they have a nice bar with drink specials and lots of TVs for watching sports.

Husband and I were pleasantly surprise with their excellent customer service. When they found out it was our first time in Tahoe joe's, they made sure we have a superb experience. The food is great, one of my favorites is their loaded potato & buffalo chicken wings. The steak is good but the best thing is, the manager also went up to us and offered us the Nevada cheesecake for free, & it is made from scratch and i would say it is one of the best cheesecakes i have ever had so far. Good job! :))

I'm convinced this place is complacent because they consider themselves an upscale steakhouse, but overpriced menu items, served with enthusiasm, that take far too long to reach the table is not what I'm looking for. The Crab cake entree was underwhelming, far more filler than crab with vegetables that appeared to have found themselves steamed straight out of freezer burn. When I asked for the entree to be boxed, to possibly feed to my non-discriminating Dog, the waitress disappeared with it and never came back. I wanted to pay and escape the place, after waiting for an hour for my salad and crab cakes, I had spotted spiderwebs and active arachnids on the table lamp. I had to go to the host stand to pay because our waitress dropped the check and decided to walk out the back door with our food. Tommy Cassanova, the manager, was apologetic and somewhat confused. From what I can tell, there was only one cook, trying to save the restaurant with a valiant effort, and he was sinking fast. The manager offered us a free appetizer to return and I might, but I'm wondering what happened that night...we all have nights that we're off, but this seemed to be a genuine fail on every level. Tommy had to buy a pair of couples their entire meal because it took over an hour to reach the table. Maybe the line cooks had organized a rebellion and went on strike on a Saturday night, hitting the management and the unsuspecting customers where it hurts. Still not sure what happened to the waitress. The hostess seemed offended that we wanted to pay, told us to wait, and then we hustled out, still leaving a tip out of pity more than appreciation.

My husband and I came here to celebrate our 7 year anniversary tonight and boy did we ever enjoy ourselves! We were very happy and satisfied of our decision to come here. It was pretty busy even for a Wednesday night but the place wasn't packed and we were still able to hear each other talk. The sourdough rolls they brought out were to die for! Super soft and WARM with room temperature butter. PERFECT. And they tasted great. The best rolls I've ever had. My hubby ordered the Blackjack burger with fries and I had the Sierra steak with a Caesar salad, green beans, and mountain mashers (mashed potatoes). All was delicious and cooked to perfection! The Caesar dressing was a bit more fishy than I would've liked but it certainly didn't ruin the quality of the salad. My iced tea was constantly topped off (major A+ for that) which brings me to giving recognition to our lovely waitress, Michelle. Michelle was so attentive and friendly towards us throughout the entire evening which made our visit to Tahoe Joe's that much more enjoyable. She was always refilling our drinks, checking in on us, and even making nice conversation which a lot of waitresses don't do. We never felt rushed or neglected. When we return, we will most definitely request to sit in her section. Give that woman a raise! Overall our experience was awesome. Clean bathrooms. Lovely ambience. Wonderful staff. Great food!

Very dated. The waitress got my order wrong, I ordered fries on the side, not rice. The bar was sticky. The waitress only gave me medium, medium-well and well-done options for my steak. Wtf? That should have been a red flag. The steak was nothing special, even with the mushroom sauce I ordered on top of it. There's nothing special going on here. Only two stars because I didn't get sick from eating here.

Came to this place thinking I was going to hAve an amazing steak dinner. Little did I know, that the steak would not be up to normal restaurant standards. The steaks flavor was horrible. The thing that got me, was how Dry the steak really was! When I took a bite into the steak, i was very disappointed. To make my dinner even better. Our waiter, could have done a better job with serving our table. He seemed more interested with all the female hosts up front, more than his job. Had to wait over 20 plus minutes before getting our bill, mind you we had been done eating at least 10 minutes prior to that Overall, this experience I had at this restaurant lacked service as well as the chefs expertise with how to properly cook steak...... This is why I'm giving it a one star rating.

We just tried this place for the first time. Excellent food! We all finished our plates. I was even more impressed with the service. Our waiter was great and the general manager came by. He gave us the feeling that he really cared for us to have a great dining experience. We will definitely be back!

Came here about 4pm to celebrate Father's Day and was promptly seated by a friendly hostess. Shortly after Michelle came and introduced herself to us and told us the soup of the day choice and explained a few things from the menu and took our order for drinks and food. She brought our drinks back quickly. We ordered iced tea and lemonade. The lemonade is VERY sweet here. Then we were brought fresh rolls with butter and they were warm, soft and delicious. Our soup came shortly after but it was barely warm. It had great flavor, just not hot enough for me to finish a bowl. Our meals were brought out about 10 minutes later and again just barely warm. I ordered salmon and hubby ordered steak and ribs. Even his food was not hot. We both agreed flavors were good, we just wished we would have been served HOT FOOD. We did see other people sending plates back that were unhappy with their food. The couple directly across from us sent their baked potatoe back because it also was not hot enough. Not sure why the other plates were going back. It was strange since the holiday crowd hasn't even came in yet, but as we were leaving. More people were just starting to pile in the door. Hope they get HOT food for Father's Day. The only thing I will say is Michelle was a fantastic hostess and I am thankful she had a smiling face and was trying to make sure we were happy. We did not complain because she was so nice it made our experience much more worth it. Thanks Michelle if you are reading this. We enjoyed your service.

This was our first time here and we will be back for sure. I ordered the rib eye and it was cooked to perfection and was a top quality cut of meat. I loved it. My wife had the tuna and it was great too. The best thing of all wad the service. We received the best service I have had in a long long time. Great first impression.

The service we had tonight was great- Kenzy was attentive without being obtrusive, helpful, and pleasant. We were very pleased with the meal -even though the steak was over-cooked, Kenzy and the management team were quick to fix and the result was an incredibly satisfying meal. I was particularly impressed that the Caesar salad dressing was homemade and you could actually taste the anchovy - light, but there! I'll be back.

Visited for the first time recently and was pleased with dinner. Steaks were pretty good for the price and I liked the side options that were included. Service was really excellent and handled some minor issues with real class.

Big portions. Away from the restaurants in the mall that are always packed. Ski lodge decor to the extreme. Kinda funny sanitizer smell when you first walk in. Sticky menus. Kinda over priced for food that is Applebee's "meh" at best. Lemonade has enough sugar to preserve a bug for a few centuries. I would not bother to try a steak or anything remotely expensive here. The service is always very friendly, even if it is sometimes a bit slow, I don't particularly mind because they are so cheerful. Despite my reservations and lack of enthusiasm about eating here, my man likes their happy hour which is pretty affordable and they still have his sports visible from most angles at the bar. He spent a day shopping with me so I guess he deserves his subpar chicken wings and whatever it is that makes him like this spot. I think it has to do with nostalgia or some-such emotional attachment. I'd be willing to just let this one go. But hey, that's love for you...going to places that your partner inexplicably enjoys... But if you are looking for a great steak house, I'd personally look elsewhere.

This place was not crowded but due to being understaffed - Our experience here was somewhat horrible yesterday! We came here around 130pm after doing a bunch of errands for my late father. My brother requested the patio seating but was declined due to understaff shift this day. That was the start of it. The server seem very preoccupied durinf serving us - We ordered soups with our entree - She gave us 3 baked potato but what was ordered was 2 baked potato and chicken pot pie. She also gave an extra bowl which was not ordered. You can tell she was already "detailed oriented" type of server. My soup had an eyelash - I didnt comment on it because its the holidays and the time for complaints is not the right time right now. She then forgot another serving of water for us table of 4 - And brought the bread basket when entrees were served?! The bread basket is suppose to be served prior to entrees, Correct?! The good thing about this service was she offered happy hour deals to the table and to go containers. Oh -- She made sure she would let us know about what she accomodated with the happy hour foods after she gave us our bill.. SMH! That was her cue for "Her Tip" from what my family gathered. This day was my Father's Birthday if he was still alive. I was going to ask for a birthday dessert from them but due to the server not being around much to accomodate us and the managers getting us another requested load of bread basket -- To finding an eyelash on my soup to not having proper water service being fulfilled - Why bother?! We ordered Nebraska Rib Eye, Rib Platters, Campfire Shrimp, Joes Steak, Happy Hour Burger - So the tab was quite hefty -- about $133 with tax. Nebraska rib eye was good but would like to try the Prime Rib next time - Hopefully the service improves!

I have been to the restaurant many times and always leave happy. On our last visit we were with a large group and they were very accommodating. I was at the end of the line and found my meal to be cold, things happen. The waiter stopped by to check and I asked him to simply remove it from the check and shared my wife's meal. The manager came out, did remove the meal and had the kitchen pack a new meal to go for me. Above and beyond service, thank you.

First time eating at Tahoe Joes. Some of my co-workers and I went here for Happy Hour and I was very impressed. Tahoe Joes has a good selection of food for Happy Hour. The portions (for being Happy Hour) were pretty decent. I really liked the shrimp, it was really tasty. The only bad thing about the shrimp is that they are really, really hard. To drink, I ordered a Mojito, which tasted like it was watered down. Overall, if you are looking for a good Happy Hour selection and a great atmosphere, I would highly recommend Tahoe Joes.

Went for dinner last night and it took forever for our food to come . Food wasnt that great . I used to love this place but no so much any more . The clam chowder had so much sand in it, i only had a few bites . The steak was really salty and made my tongue hurt . Our waiter was awesome though ! Only good thing

  • Amanda G.

Barf . The steaks are usually good . The Alfredo was boring and very dry . No flavor at all . The veggies were okay I guess . Nothing special . The bartender last night sucked . Basically got a martini with no vodka . Rip off ! The jumbo lump crab cakes were good but what was so jumbo about them ? The table was a mess . Our friend got butter all over her outfit and all the manager did was come over apologized and just had a dumb puzzled look on his face . Useless . The two stars are for Saul our sever - awesome !

Came in for the Happy Hr after 9. It was surprisingly good. I was very happy and satisfied with the burger and fries for 3.99 and my wife enjoyed the loaded French fries for 2.99 also. Great deal and better than I had anticipated. Reminds me of the specials that Stanford's used to have for their happy hr. We normally have dinner here but decide just to give the happy hr a try. Glad we did!

A chain like the ones I grew up with in suburban Fort Lauderdale. Prices good, portions large, food is tasty. Highlight was the creamy horseradish sauce. Large clean restaurant playing pop music. Very engaged waitress. All in all, just fine.

I like this place. It was the best prime rib I think I have ever had! It is a little expensive. Zenda and I got out of there for $100.00 and we didn't go nuts. I would recommend this place for special occastions.

The cities will always have the restaurants with the most innovative food, stylish location and cachet, but along with that sometimes comes spotty service, indifference and snobbery. This is one reason it can be refreshing to get a meal in the suburbs where people are more like, well, people. I went with my girlfriend's parents, who are older, and a couple of their friends to Tahoe Joe's a few weeks ago for a Monday lunch. It was a great experience. The server was pleasant, accommodated guests with limited mobility, checked with the kitchen for ingredients and all along was prompt and courteous, never rushed. It seemed like he really wanted everyone to enjoy their meal and time together. The food, mostly steaks, were properly cooked to order, tender, juicy and flavorful. The sides were also fresh and appealing. I appreciated the manager recognizing this was a special outing and asking my girlfriend's parents and their friends how they were enjoying the meal. That was gracious. The bill was reasonable. Actually, it was a pretty good deal. All in all, it was a very pleasant outing and it made everyone want to come back for another visit. Thanks!

Nachos - pretty good Blackwood Canyon Pasta - absolutely no flavor! We literally brought it home and recooked it for lunch the next day. Pork Chops - excellent! They were melt in your mouth soft and perfectly cooked. Applie pie skillet - yummmmmm! I was told it was the second best apple pie, after mine of course (but he's such a liar lol). Service - excellent! He was very attentive, gave good advice when asked and had a great personality. Price - pretty steep but I guess it's what you get with a steakhouse. Overall we will most likely visit again.

Seriously the best! I've been coming here for years! All I've ever ordered off the menu is their prime rib because it's so amazing! The chicken pot pie soup is to die for. All their appetizers are good as well. Then once I tried their "Girls Night Out" martini, I've been even more hooked! The servers are always absolutely amazing, friendly, welcoming & engaged w/ you. I have a 3 year old who will talk your ear off & they always stop & talk w/ him. The hostesses can sometimes be pretty rude & seem like they hate their job but thankfully they're not there your whole meal! I would honestly die if this place ever went out of business!

This place is awesome... 5 stars all around. The food was great, the service was great and the atmosphere is so welcoming. Our waiter Dominic was excellent. He was very polite and fast. Also the General Manager Tom was really nice. It was our first time here and he gave us dessert on the house. We will most definitely be back.

I usually don't have a bad experience at Tahoe Joe's in Pleasant Hill... But the meal i had last night left me with a violent case of food poisoning. Six hours after my meal there, I threw up the rest of the night, followed by gut wrenching diarrhea. All the typical symptoms of classic food poisoning. I talked to other friends who have stopped going to Tahoe Joe's for the same reason. Getting sick after eating their food. To make matters worse, I called them this afternoon to let them know something from the night before made me terribly sick. I didn't want someone else to end up with the same fate as me. The manager tried to get me to believe it was something other than their food that made me sick. When you eat something that makes you sick, you know what you're sick from for crying out loud. They seemed more concerned with trying to deflect the blame than anything else. I told them I wasn't so much calling for me.. But for the sake of the next customer who may get the same tainted food. I felt their urgency to do anything to address the problem and rush me off the phone. My suspicion was the clam chowder is what made me sick... But it may have been the steak too. I will never go back to Tahoe Joe's again. Not just because of the food that gets people sick... But the obvious lacking to do anything to change that.

I went here on a Monday evening by myself. Plenty of parking, the service was quick, the waitress was efficient, and nice enough; she didn't WOW me or anything. It has log cabin decor, and pictures/references to Lake Tahoe. There are maps of the lake, and taxedermy on the walls. It smells like smokey BBQ or wood chips inside. There were T.V.'s on, which were showing a baseball game. I had the 5-6 oz Maine Lobster, and the 8oz Virginia City Filet combo. The Lobster was ok ( a bit tough). The steak was bacon wrapped, so tender & so delicious. I got it medium rare (warm pink center). Along with a house salad, and unlimted iced tea refills, the total was $45.00.

Crab cake dinner with alfredo fettuccine = the crab cakes were ok but the fettuccine had so much garlic in it, it was uneatable. When brought to the servers attention he agreed! So we paid $22.99 for 3 medium sized crab cakes. End of story.

It's been better. After the drive back from AT&T park (Giants won that one), I mentioned dinner. I rattled off a few options, but it was quickly decided that Tahoe Joe's was the only choice. Happy hour. It was happy hour, so I got the tall beer and Mrs N. got wine. I have to say, I liked the happy hour deals. Beyond that, the dinner was fine. Service was a little slow. Overall, it was fine.

My family and I just discovered this restaurant last week. Although a little on the expensive side, the food, the service and the atmosphere is superb. My family had the steak nachos as an appetizer ( of which I got free after recently signing up for the e-newsletter) and the steak was so tender! Then as a main course I had the bourbon ginger salmon- YUMMY! The sauce used had the right amount of sweet and tartness. I was so full afterwards that I could not even think about dessert. The atmosphere is of a rustic log cabin with wood carved bear statues throughout the interior of the restaurant. A wooden canoe, a moose head and a few classic snow shoes can be found decorating the walls. Coming here is definitely a splurge but well worth the experience. Not that my family could come to this restaurant a regular basis as that could become costly. And yet, I did notice the happy hour specials are very reasonable and I am sure being on their e-newsletter will provide me with some great deals further into the future. I truly loved coming here. Sadly, I live in the Monterey area and this Tahoe Joe's is the closest restaurant near my house. It is about a three hour drive from my house so logically I will not be able to come whenever I want to. I really hope to see one of these restaurants open up in the Monterey, Santa Cruz or even the San Jose area, as any of these areas are closer for me. Pros: -Great interior - reminisce of being in a rugged log cabin -friendly helpful staff -has a regular e-newsletter with coupons -great selection of food and very tasty -great deals during happy hour Cons: -meals can get pricey

This one star is for the manager. He tried. We really used to enjoy coming here. Something happened and things have really went south for this restaurant. This past visit my husband had the clam chowder soup. The crackers were not only stale, but rancid. I never even knew a cracker could smell that bad. The manager came with new ones, apologized and said that they had just received a new box and the old ones must have gotten mixed in by accident. I could tell that he really did care, and really did want to help... However I couldn't help but wonder WHY they would ever keep such old food. The steak my daughter ordered was supposed to be "medium" but was very raw in the middle... I would say blood red, but it wasn't. It was actually a very strange, unnatural color. My husbands steak was ordered the same way, and came out pretty decently cooked. But was just "okay". My son had fries with his meal that were soggy and greasy. I was pretty safe with the nacho appetizer as my meal. Not the place it once was when they first started out. Someone started cutting corners and have cut out customers in the process. Disappointed. We once liked the food and atmosphere here.

I have been here 3 times before, and the first time was fanstastic. Always huge portions, and good comfort foods. Until today... I ordered a $30 steak medium rare. When it came out it was cold, but the sides were hot. Strange. Then the server never came by to check on us, my drink sat empty for 10 minutes and no one ever asked if i wanted more. On top of that, no one asked if we wanted any more fresh rolls. Finally i got the servers attention and she let the manager know. He comped the steak and was nice. Then he gave us a free cheesecake slice for the trouble. And here comes the best part, the crust was to frozen to break apart with a fork or even a knife. That was the straw the broke the camels back. I will not be returning to the restaurante ever, even though i had many positive experiences there. The food cost way to much to have service this poor. This review received 2 stars instead of 1 since the manager was very nice.

There was a bit of an awkward moment when just I arrived and told them that I needed a table for two. Hostess: "Do you want to wait?" Me: "Should I? blank...stare... The other hostess instructed her to seat me. The server was awesome and asked if he could get me something to drink. Now, we're talking! My buddy was running late and I think the server thought I may be getting stood up, so he kept checking in on me. Every time he came by, the tone in his voice turned a little bit more apologetic. Finally, my buddy arrived and we got to order. He had about 1,000 questions on how best to order and the server was nothing but patient and kind. They gladly took his salad back and replaced it, when it arrived with something he didn't like on it. My salad was pretty basic. The honey mustard dressing is a little sweet but does the job. My baked potato was not only huge but baked perfectly. They bring out all the fixings and put exactly what you prefer on it. The side of green beans were cooked just right, still crisp but not undercooked at all. After asking the waiter his personal preference, I chose the Sierra steak. It was so juicy and tender, with a great flavor. They add just a hint of pepper that flavors but doesn't overpower the taste. It isn't often that I clear a plate but I did. All of it. I put my buddy to shame. Plus, you know the food is good when I don't even touch the bread. This is my favorite place for a steak.

Mother-in-law brought Tahoe Joe's over for Valentine's Day lunch... daaang, the tri tip was ridiculously tender, moist, flavorful... mmmmm!! I guess they slow cook it for 19 hours? Well it shows. Everything was fresh and neatly packed with labels. - The salad (mixed greens, walnuts, and raisins with champagne vinaigrette) was soooo good. - The bluelake greenbeans with bacon were great. - The rice pilaf was yummy. - The clam chowder was hot, creamy, and perfect for a cloudy day. - The tri tip was superb in every way, and the creamy horseradish sauce that came on the side went well with it. - The cheesecake was fluffy, the graham cracker crust was flakey, and the thick whipped cream wasn't overly sweet. Once again, they've managed to exceed expectations, especially for take-out food, wow!

came here only for happy hour!!!!!! and I must say for the price I will give it 5 stars. Sat outside on a beautiful day with my family and had a house margarita which was pretty good! we order everything on the happy hour and was pleased! If you want to go have a couple of drinks and eat a couple of different appetizers for a cheap price I will suggest this spot.

So I want to give them more than 2 stars but I just can't, tonight was the first and last time I'll be back. We had a reservation just incase, still had to wait 15 minutes til we got sat. Our server was terrible. He should not be a server. He seemed very unhappy, nothing friendly about him. He started out with "have you been here before?" Not a "hi" or "my name is chuck, how are you this evening?" Being mine and my husbands first time, he just pointed out to where things were on the menu no explanation or anything. He got drink order and brought them back and left. 10 minutes later he returned to take our ordered, we asked to start with nachos and onion straws for appetizers and then he started to walk away mid sentence!! I said we didn't tell you our meals yet. He replied I know I'll get it in a minute, in a snarky voice. Okkkk, really? Your going to cut me off like that? Fine you must be having a bad night. He came back, took our order and he was gone again. 15 minutes apps came out. I was pleasantly surprised that the nachos were good. Better than a lot of other places I've been, very few soggy chips. The onion strings we didn't take more than a few pieces, they were super salty. We pushed them to the end of the table. Not once did Chuck ask if something was wrong. When we had finished the majority of the nachos he came to take out plates and we had to ask him to take the straws away because they were bad. He still didn't even ask what was wrong. He came back with our soup and salad. Salad was meh. The clam chowder was pretty tasty. He took our plates and we waited another 20 minutes for our steaks. It has now been 50 minutes since we first got our sodas. Another waitress finally brought our food out, she was much cheerier. She prepared our baked potatoes for us, got steak sauce as we asked, told to enjoy and she was off. Both our steaks were over cooked and tough. I've never ever had a ribeye that tough before. Chuck hadn't checked on us until we were half way through and finished eating what we could of the rib eyes, he gave us boxes and the check. I hate not leaving much of a tip but it was such a terrible experience. One star for cleanliness and one for the nachos. We will not be back

I was surprised how good the food from Tahoe Joe's was when my co-workers and I feasted on the delicious food at work. I give it a 3.5-4 because I did not personally attend the establishment. The steak was flavorful and tender, the gravy and smashed potatoes complimented the meat. The added essence of the meal was the hot roll with butter and green beans. Everything was fresh, properly seasoned and hot even thought it was bought from Tahoe Joe's to us and it was still hot. I can not rate how the service was in-house but from what I received as it pertained to the quality of food it is Highly Recommended.

I am not often in the mood for steak, but I was last night so we decided to try Tahoe Joe's. I remember the location from the old days when it was Carlos Murphy's. Décor was very cute and the hostesses thought they were. We stood there a few minutes and the FOUR of them up front could not stop talking amongst themselves to welcome us. No "Hi" 'Welcome" or ""One moment, be right with you." Instead we were totally invisible standing there feeling totally unworthy to bothering these girls when clearly they had something better to do than their JOBS. We were seated finally - no wait, but it seemed as if we were inconveniencing the girl. It totally set the tone. Server was pleasant, food was okay - as someone said, Applebee quality chain food. Meat was a little grisly but flavor was good. It was a long wait though - I think she forgot our order since people next to us came in after us, ate and paid before we got our entrees! Was too spendy for what it was. It could have been ok if the hostesses were better at their simple job - to greet and seat people, to make them feel welcomed in the establishment. $100 for two people is too much to not feel like it is something special. Won't be back.

We ordered the dinner for two and the amount of food was too much. The spinach and artichoke dip came with salsa also. The prime rib and steak were cooked perfectly. We had cheesecake for dessert which was thick and rich. The service was good. Will return when I am in the area again.

Love Tahoe Joe's Pleasant Hill! I must say, whoever makes their Margarita Mix from scratch makes an unmistakable, unmatched sweet/tart tequila concoction from heaven. The service at the bar is FAST. Yes, amazing fast service. They can use a larger flat screen around the bar. But I will ALWAYS stop in for their margaritas.

We came here for the first time and loved the food. We had the nachos and crab cake appetizers. Delicious. Crab cakes had pieces of crab you could actually see. The chips on the nachos were very light and crunchy.. Most of us had steak done medium. The wait person said medium means it is slightly pink in the center which is what most of us wanted. Some in our part also had the chicken pot pie soup and said it was great. Cheesecake had a thick crust. We could have just eaten that it was so good. Only slight problem was the rolls came out really pale but we had a pastry chef with us who cut the roll in half and said he gave them a B+. It just needed one more minute in the oven to brown a little. Looking forward to coming back.

I have been here many times and was never disappointed. For the price, you can get a really nice dinner. Service is fast and good, the place is also clean and comfortable. Food is delicious and you will not be hungry when you leave.

Nice atmosphere, and great service. Their steaks are great and love the railroad shrimp. The only reason I gave them 4 stars because this time I ordered the chicken and it was way too salty and little bit dry. But the rest of my good was good and I'm stuffed!

Went in for date night. My boyfriend had insisted that he loved this place. The food was decent and I had no complaints there. But the service was a little off. We were seated right away. It was a Thursday night so not packed by all means. We asked for a booth and after a dirty look the girl obliged. Our waiter was an older gentlemen. He was personable and knowledgeable well as he could be. But and I'm not exaggerating he checked in on us every three minutes. I mean common the more time you spend talking to us asking if we're ready to order the more time I'm not looking at the menu to decide what I want. I haven't been to a Tahoe joes in many many years. When he took our drink order we both asked for cokes. Immediately he grabbed the alcohol menu from the table and said oh sorry I didn't realize. Oh you don't need that. We started with cokes but how do you know we didn't want a drink with dinner? Idk he made it seem like we were just a couple of young kids. We're both in out late twenties. Not that we aren't young but it was just kind of weird. He was genuinely nice but seemed like we were taking so much of his time. I hate to complain about good service and I did give a good tip for that but man it was a weird situation. Food was pretty good and came out fairly quickly. I got a burger with fries and he got a steak. Both were very good. Got a cheese cake to go that was even better! Overall not a bad experience at all and the food was good just a weird night.

Went to dinner and it was 6:30 however our food took forever to get not sure if the waitress forgot to put in our order because the people next to us were eating when we got there. Then another set of people sat down to eat.We had been sitting there for 20 minutes before they arrived and they got their food before us and to top it off we ordered steak rare with a chicken salad, fries and they ordered two steaks. How did they get their food before us ?1Go figure I think the waitress forgot. She wasn't very friendly she didn't smile her name was Sonoma I don't know if that's a real name or just the name at Tahoe Joes. Being a cute blonde and young doesn't cut with me. However then at the end of the night she goes to ask us if we want dessert as she's sitting down the bill on the table now what kind of service is that? She pretty much made our decision there for us then she end up short changing me so I end up just giving that change part of the tip. I did tell her in front of the customer sitting behind us that she short change mean as part of her tip and yet she chuckled when I told her she short changed me like as if she's done that before. I'm beginning to think that she is a new waitress if she's been a waitress for a while I feel bad for her because she's not very good at it other than that the food was good. atmosphere is nice and I would go back again because I've been there 2 times before this time we have had great service however I think it is just an off night. Will make sure to not ask for Sonoma.

Cooked to perfection and beats our expectations. Our server was very friendly and recommended us some great stuff. Just about everything you order here comes in large portion. There's nothing that landed on our table that didn't taste right. I love the prime rib, salad, soup, appetizers, & dessert. This place is great for first dates, reunion, birthday parties, and family events. Love the country/ western look. This reminded me of a trip we took in lake Tahoe. Must experience it. We came home satisfied.

I came here for my mom's birthday and I'm never coming back. The "hot tea" was actually lukewarm and when I asked for a hotter tea pot, the waitress had a bad attitude. Then my brother's dish was cold and my mom's chicken was overly cooked. I didn't even want to talk to the waitress because she made me irritated. I re-ordered with a different waitress and asked to have the old one removed. I talked to the manager and they reduced the bill but the overall performance was terrible.

I am writing this not in the hope for return in any way, nor in the hope of a free meal for me and my family. I am writing this in the hope you, Tahoe Joes management will act upon this review, and that the quality of food improves at the above store. (Not that I will ever know, because I'd rather be disemboweled by a spoon than set foot in another Tahoe Joes. Really.) First and foremost - our Server Chelsea, was great - no dramas there. However, you need to know that the food served to us yesterday evening was borderline inedible. We ordered 3 Railroad Camp Shrimp, Loaded Cabin Fries, a Joe's Steak sliders, and a Cheeseburger with Fries, washed down with a couple of glasses of white wine. The shrimp were so hard and dry, and served on limp, brown looking lettuce. I swear you could snap them in half with your fingers. I toyed with the idea of seeing if I could take one of your windows out by throwing a shrimp at it. Hard. My wife talked me down, as there were people on the other side of the glass, no doubt enjoying the same quality food as we were... Result: 3 dishes ordered, 15 shrimp in total. After attempting to work our way through them, remaining: 10 shrimp in total. The Steak sliders were the highlight of the 'Happy Hour' food extravaganza though. The meat was really a let down. It looked anaemic, just a dull grey pallor, served in a sourdough bun, with an excuse for melted cheese and onion, and a pot of Au Jus. The most wonderful thing was that it was stone cold, yet managed to come served on a piping hot plate that scorched your knuckles as you tried to pick it up to take a bite. Did I say it was tough? No, it seems not - IT WAS TOUGH AS OLD BOOTS. Chewy as hell. I have no idea where you got it from, but sack the bloody butcher for crying out loud. A disaster all over. My daughters fries, the 'Loaded Cabin Fries' were a congealed mass of post Fukushima meltdown fallout. Soggy, wet (how can they be wet, yet fried?!?! I have no idea), and smothered in cheese and bacon bits that had obviously been left for SO long on the side that the cheese was no longer runny or attractive to the eye. If you picked up ONE potato chip, the entire plate came with it, so she resorted to cutting it up with a knife and fork and eating it like a pizza. That didn't last long though, as she had wanted to pick at them (hey they're fries) but was unable to do so, so she regrettably left them, the culinary delight that they were. My boys burger was dry. Really really dry - try if you will and imagine biting into a thick, yet soft piece of particle board. (No I have never done that either, but I can only imagine that would come vaguely close to the experience of trying to eat that burger). Christ Alive! We are in the land that invented bloody burgers! I thought it was you American's (I am British) staple menu item that no-one could screw up. Ever. Well your 'burger chef' made a fantastic job of killing this one. Hint: The cow is ALREADY dead - no need to kill the bugger again is there? EH?!?? That about sums the food up really - Like I said Chelsea was a great server - she earned her tip and did a good job. We did not complain, she brought the bill and asked how the food was.... Ohhh dear - then I went into one - not shouting or anything so uncivilized. I explained along the lines of the above how we felt, and summarized saying the wine was great, but that was likely due to it being made in Sonoma, and not in their kitchen. Chelsea, being the great server that she was, then offered to get the manager, to which I graciously accepted. Well I may as well have been in bloody Tahoe, cos I could have pitched a tent in the time he DID NOT COME AND FIND US. Cue to 6/7 minutes later and still no manager, so with joy in my heart and chalking it all up to experience we left your restaurant with a smile on our faces secure in the knowledge we would never have to cross your threshold again... Your kitchen/process/preparation/ needs a royal kick in the arse chaps, because I am ABSOLUTELY SURE that we were not alone, yesterday or any other days come to that. Have a wonderful weekend!

My grandmother and I went after church...she had a coupon. We had the dinner for 2 that was 20.99 per person I think. So I ordered the 6 oz (I think). and my granny ordered the prime rib. For starters, we shared the crab cakes and she also had a salad and I the chicken pot pie soup. The Crab Cakes: Very pleased. Of course you could probably find better crab cakes elsewhere, but these were truly decent and the garlicy sauces that accompanied them were good too. I'm unsure why the sauces were different colors but tasted very similar: garlicy. Salad and Soup: How can you screw up a salad? Granny had no complaints. My soup on the other hand was a meal in itself. I didn't finish it. First of all it didn't taste too great and second it was just heavy and globby and gross...really. It maybe had 3 pieces of small chicken cubes in it. Don't know if the chicken was real. The soup was an unappealing color too....bleh. Granny's Prime Rib: I didn't taste it, she regularly doesn't eat beef but I think she said it was ok...it got her sick the next day though. She was quite nauseous. My steak was cooked medium. It was really thick and "slow roasted" which confused me. I don't know how one would go about slow roasting a steak to medium. Anyway, it had a wonderful charred flavor. I had the mashers with it and they went great with the steak and green beans (which had wonderful offerings in it, including tomatoes and bacon). Oh! Granny had a loaded baked potato with her prime rib. Looked good! I wish I would have ordered my steak and little more done tough; it was tough and chewy. That was my fault though. Overall, solid 3 stars because the prime rib got granny sick :( Good leftovers! :D

From out of state and I always go out of my way to come here. Food is very good. Start with the railroad camp shrimp. Their tempera style shrimp. The Joes steak can be hit or miss depending on the marbling and how done it is. It's slow roasted overnight so as rare as it comes is medium. Sometimes not medium enough. The prime rib is also good. If you have someone with you get the dinner for two comes with an appetizer, main course is either the Prime Rib, Joes Steak, or roasted Chicken. I haven't had the chicken so I can't comment on it. Then desert both the cheesecake and the Chocolate cake are awesome. If your lucky enough to come when they have the chicken pot pie soup it is amazing served every Wednesday. Come hungry the portions are huge and very filling. Usually can't finish it all. As far as sides go love the blue lake green beans, mountain mashers (mashed potatoes with gravy) or a baked potato. The baked potatoes are done the right way baked and fluffy not wrapped in tinfoil so they steam instead of bake. Service is usually good. Ambience is great log cabin mountain style motif.

It is unfortanate there this isn't a negative scale on Yelp, this place would be a -4 or -5. TRASHCAN this place is a TRASHCAN cesspool. If you want crappy bar style food for half the price go to Applebees or Chilis save yourself twice the price and go to one of these chains. Food: We tried chicken, fish (which was the special) and Mac and Cheese for kid. The Chicken was undercooked - "Pink" The Mac and Cheese was gelatinous - overcooked and yet somehow cold. The fish was the texture of an old pair of Vans. Service: The server was texting while walking away, while we were still requesting bread and water from her. Her "manager" was chatting with her as she walked away. I wanted to stand up and scream at this waitress and the manager. 80 bucks down - I didn't leave any tip, in fact I considered protesting and not paying. This place is TRASHCAN, do yourself a favor and get McDonalds instead.

Just finished dinner here, the first time we have tried the place. Food was great, service was awesome. Michelle took care of us and couldn't have been nicer. The manager came by our table to check in since it was our first time in. All is good, I would definitely recommend. We will be back.

Tahoe Joe's is a very unmemorable place, that blends in with all the other folksy steak restaurants, but probably deserves a little more credit than it receives. I have dined here on occaison with mixed results. The menu is mostly steaks and ribs, with a few chicken items. I think there was one pasta dish, and a prime rib option. One time our steaks were cooked improperly, but staff happily corrected the problem AND offered compensation. Other times, we have had no issues whatsoever. If you are looking for a decent steak for a reasonable price, then it ain't half bad here. I wouldn't say the food is stellar though. The clam chowder is a little salty and heavy. I would pass on that, and choose a salad instead. The friendly staff seems to be the redeeming factor above any shortcomings. There is an awesome waitress who looks like she could be Jessica Biel's sister! I forgot her name, but she is a winner.

Friend and I came here today and had the soup and salad lunch special thing. Chicken pot pie soup is the absolute best I've ever tasted! It's always wonderful! Thanks again Konnor. :)

I always wanted to try tahoe joes but I never got the chance. My first time I finally tried it was with my co workers and boy was it a mess! The food was nothing special at all. We went during a really slow time and they still had a hard time getting all our orders stright and it took them 40 mins just to get our food! They totally forgot about someone's meal and had to go back and make it! I went back a second time with my friends hoping it would be better and boy was I wrong! Same mistakes! Even worse because they mixed up our checks!!! I will not be comming back here!

Sometimes the service at a place steals the show. This was my experience the other day at Tahoe Joe's. I ordered the railroad shrimp ...could barely chew through the thick tempura coating. I wasn't in the mood to make a fuss.. So I began to pick at the lettuce under the shrimp. The waitress asked me how I was doing and I explained that I'm a "texture girl" and that I wasn't used to this thick of a coating on shrimp. She apologized and offered to bring me something else instead. Who doesn't love second chances!? I ordered the ahi tuna -- which was fantastic. The new manager, Tommy came by my table, introduced himself and told me that the shrimp would be taken off my check and that he was glad that the tuna was to my liking. Fantastically friendly staff, great drinks. I'll be back.

I have come here several times for the soup/salad lunch special, and a few times for dinner. What a great deal! Delicious soup/salad and rolls with butter. The nacho appetizer is HUGE and the desserts are great. (Dinner has always been good, too, but since my husband went vegan, I don't come here for dinner much anymore.) But what is really nice is that the food servers who work here are really nice. Especially Rainer---he always takes the time to make small chat with me and my friend, and we're just a couple of old ladies. Tom the manager is very nice, too.

I was expecting better - seems to be a bit of an Outback knock off. I had the Joes Sirloin - it wasn't bad, really, but it just didn't knock my socks off - flavor was there, just not full. Service was good - but it wasn't very busy during the dinner rush. I probably wouldn't return, not because it was bad, but because it wasn't so good it would keep me from trying a new place.

This wasn't my first trip to Tahoe Joe's but will most likely be my last. Not only was my steak grossly under cooked the steak was half gristle. The scallop shrimp pairing had the scallops cooked adequately but the shrimp was dried out. Service friendly.

Went here w/ for friends birthday party and a large group at that. Food was ok, too salty for my palate. I have had better BBQ and perhaps this one no soo great. A little slow on the service as well but again it was a fairly busy Sat night. Cocktails were awesome~

Tahoe Joes is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always excellent and their service is ALWAYS WONDERFUL!!! Tonight we visited and it took quite a while longer than usual to get our food. We just figured they were really busy. The manager delivered our food to us and apologized for the lengthy delay. After eating they delivered 2 desserts to our able and comped our meal for us. We never even had to complain. We were amazed. If you have never been there I would definitely recommend it:). We will be back again soon!

YAY HAPPY HOUR! Tahoe Joe's happy hour is from 11-6pm and 9pm-close DAILY and ALL DAY Sunday!! Those are freaking amazing happy hour times LOL. I came here with my friend on New Year's Eve around 3pm and it wasn't too crowded so we were seated immediately. The place is decorated like a cabin and made me feel like I was about to go skiing or camping or something outdoorsy haha. Everything on the happy hour menu was so cheap! We decided to order three appetizers and two drinks. $2.99 1/4 Cheeseburger and Fries - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Both the burger and fries were really good! For the amount of fries we got and the size of this burger, the price is great! $1.99 Buffalo Wings Yummmyy. Really tasty and not too spicy (: For the drinks, I ordered a virgin pina colada and my friend got some beer. HOLY CRAP they gave him a huge cup of beer. He couldn't even finish it since he was supposed to drive after ward but for the amount of beer he got, it was definitely worth the $3! My pina colada was also really yummy and it cost $3.99. Our total came out to under $20 and we were both stuffed after ward. Definitely come here for their happy hour if you want some good food and don't want to pay too much!

I enjoyed almost everything about this place! The steak was the best I've had in a while and the staff was really nice! My only two complaints were that Caesar salad didn't taste right to me and the bathrooms weren't as clean as I expect a restaurant should be. Overall it was a wonderful night! Hubby had his 1st legal beer there tonight!

I'm from this area and surprised I haven't written a review about this restaurant yet. It's basically a place with lots of American food. Honestly, the last time I was here was like 5 years ago so I don't really remember anything. It's like when a teacher loses your exam and they ask you what you think you got, so you say like, "high B, low A" because you don't want to be pretentious but at the same time not dumb. Not sure if I'll ever be back here. I'll go with 3 stars.

Yum! Don't be suckered into sitting in the main dining area; insist on the bar or patio and take advantage of the insanely good happy hour deals. The loaded fries and beef sliders were the big standouts for our trio when we split 4 items for lunch. Note that the price on the happy hour items has risen to a just devastating $3 and $4, up a buck from a couple years ago, but the portions are excellent and the fact that those deals are available all but 3 hours a day means that it's still an astonishing deal. They also offer an array of flavored lemonades - if you like really sweet options, get the strawberry or triple-berry; if you're like me and prefer tart, go for the delicious pomegranate. Next time I'm in the area, wine tasting perhaps, this will be high on my list of places to fortify myself!

Tahoe Joe's is something like Outback Steakhouse meets Fleming's Steakhouse. But more on the Outback side, except swap the fake Aussie theme with a fake Tahoe theme. Tahoe Joe's is a small NorCal regional chain of themed steakhouses with 10 locations, mostly located in the Central Valley, having started in Fresno in the 1990's. It has nothing to do with the more Italian Original Joe's of SF and SJ fame, or Sloppy Joe's, those messy burger-like things with mystery meat and a lot of sauce you used to get in your school cafeteria. The theme is, well,Tahoe cabin-like. They even tell of the legend of Tahoe Joe in their menu. I don't know if that is all made up or not, call it part of the "ambiance". The decor is Tahoe Lodge-like, with large natural wood beamed construction. It almost makes you want to cozy by the campfire and make some smores in your Apres Ski boots. It is not dissimilar in the booth set-up and bar to Outback. But Outback Steakhouse, HQ in Tampa, Florida and contributes $300,000 every election cycle to the Republican Party through its own Political Action Committee, uses a lot of salt and spices, and cooks its steak in butter. I would say Tahoe Joe's is a "cut above" outback. Which cut of meat, I am not sure. The pricing is similar, the service is perhaps a bit better, and my Favorite Relative prefers the Prime Rib here over the fake Aussies. They do have a variety of meat choices, as well as enough selection of other choices to offer some variety beyond just meat, for those not in the mood for a steak in your party. The 10oz PR is as I recall, is $21.95 with the fixins, and that is usually enough for most. They only really have 2 desserts. Cheesecake, and then the Ski Jump Chocolate Cake. Both are substantial in size and calories, so leave room. I like Tahoe Joe's better than Outback Steakhouse. They are both close enough that I could probably walk there and walk off all that meat and cholesterol. I have been to Tahoe many times, and Australia many times. I would have to say Tahoe Joe's is more authentic to the theme.

Absolutely love this place! I come for Happy Hour at least once, maybe twice a week. I love their blended margaritas. The service is excellent! The bartenders know exactly what I want and are all of them are so nice. The food is excellent. ....love their rib eye steak dinner, it melts in your mouth. If you love cheesecake you will love their Nevada Cheesecake. .....to die for!!!

I came here for lunch with coworkers and we all had their soup and salad lunch special. There is an outside area to sit, which was very enjoyable to soak up the sun. Our waitress was extremely helpful and checked in on us several times throughout our meal. I had the chicken pot pie soup and it was perfection! So comforting to eat and I loved that they had strips of pie crust to top off the soup. I definitely enjoyed my meal and will go back here in winter to get my comfort soup :)

They not only offer happy hour every day (11 am - 6 pm and 9 pm to close) but they offer happy hour ALL DAY on Sundays. The happy hours prices can be found in the bar or patio. Happy hour consists of $1.99 and $2.99 appetizers. Yes, you read that correctly. They call them "individual" size but they are still nice sized, sharable portions. Their happy hour drink specials include $1 off drinks, $3 22 oz domestic beers, some sort of wine deal that currently escapes me and a $5 house margarita. The margarita was nothing spectacular but it was well made and served in the always fun mason jar. My honey and I split the steak sliders and the nachos. The steak in the sliders was tender, cooked medium and topped with grilled onions and melty mozzarella. For $2.99 you get two loaded sliders. The nachos were your standard beans, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, etc. These two dishes were a large snack for us, if we were there for a full meal we would have needed at least one or two more appetizers. But at $1.99 or $2.99 a pop, we still wouldn't have paid much more than $10 for all the food. Tahoe Joe's is down the street from my office so it would also be a good lunchtime nonalcoholic beverages and cheap eats spot.

Food was good. Service was disastrous. Hostess made reservations 2 weeks in advance for 17 for 5pm. She called the day before to verify the reservation. Most of us arrived before 5pm. "The table is being set up" And we waited and waited. At 5:20pm she asked again. He said, I can seat you but we don't have a server. So, at 5:45pm the poor server arrived with absolutely no help. No runner, no busboy. Poor planning by management and no apology. I have been there in the past for lunch and service was okay but not great. They really need to concentrate on customer service.

I was so excited to eat here after reading the positive reviews! However, the steak has absolutely no flavor at all and the salmon tasted dry and old. We ordered extra fries and it was cold and the only thing that tasted good was baked potatoes and salad! I could have made a better one at home. The service was SUPER slow and we waited almost 25 minutes for our food! This place is overpriced and bad tasteless food. I will not go again.

When I hear the name Tahoe Joe's, I KNOW they're going to have good food, great service, a laid back atmosphere & strong drinks!! If you want any meat or fish, this is THE place to go & has NEVER disappointed me!!! The other night I was CRAAAAAAAAAVING some swordfish which only happens to be the "fish of the day" here during the winter...allllll winter!!! (Woohooo!) I came in...ordered a baby green salad with extra champagne vinegarette on the side, ordered the swordfish, blackened, with a little side dish of Boomtown shrimps, did the normal steamed veggies & baked potato...and everything came back AMAZINGGGGGG!! I don't know how they do it, but their seafood and chicken always comes out PERFECT and consistent!! I imagine the kitchen is filled with tiny elves making all the food to perfection... This place is a MUST TRY...even on a busy weekend night the wait isn't very long even though the waiting area looks packed, they also have a curb side take-out service so you can get your goodies to go & enjoy them at home...or put all the food on plates & tell someone you cooked it all =) Service is ALWAYS top notch, the servers are always really friendly & not afraid to chat, and they all know what kind of ingredients are in the food (if you have allergies or sensitivities, just ask!! If they don't know, they will ask a cook & find out for sure for you!)....totally worth it!!!

For the price you pay here you receive a nice dinner. Was not disappointed with the food, and was most definitely not disappointed with the amazing and caring service. A great family environment. I can see having some sentimental memories with comrades in the future. I ordered the buffalo wings which were above average but felt a little as if they were just heated up. The fries were excellent as well as the Arnold palmer and other drinks made from the bar. All I'm all a good place to stop by with some pals.

I have not been to this restaurant and gave it a try the other night. Our party made a reservation after reading few recent reviews. It was not necessary to make the reservation that night because by the time we arrived, there were plenty of tables available at the bar and dinning area. The drinks were good, especially the lemonade that had a good balance of sweet and sour. However, the food quality was a bit disappointing. I am not sure if this is a chain restaurant but the steak definitely reminded me of other chain steak house in the market. There is slight possibility for us to go back for the lemonade /happy hour / bar food but not likely a full dinner.

I was hoping for great things from a restaurant that is piping the sweet smell of hickory wood ovens. Only thing great here was our server. This is your typical chain blue hair steamed veggie failaurant.

It's probably closer to 3.5 stars but I'm feeling generous today. Happy hour is a great deal (nachos and margaritas for dirt cheap, score!) and the cheesecake... Oh the cheesecake. It is delicious, especially with their hot fudge and strawberries. Oh, and the rolls. The rolls make me want to cry bc they're so good. Steaks, I always ask for medium rare and inevitably they'll come out more medium, less rare, and perfect. The railroad camp shrimp is also very good. The sides aren't much to write home about but overall ambience brings this place up a notch.

The food here is delicious. The menu is a little limited but overall I think its one of my favorite lunch spots. I never have to wait for a table and the waitstaff is always enthusiastic. My favorite part is the bread, they have delicious rolls!

Finally a night out without the little one in tow..... Saturday night with very limited options for dinner at 9:30pm we decided to head to Tahoe Joe's for dinner and drinks. I ordered a 'Ladies night out Martini' a beautiful foo-foo girly drink with passion fruit and pineapple juice and layers with peach snappes and raspberry liqueur. It tasted like candy. After four sips...... instantly, I broke out in HIVES!!! I had red pokie dots all over my face! My face was red with rough raised skin, and swollen lips. Our wonderful server Porsche noticed my face and came over to the table to check on me, asked if I was OK. I told her I was having an allergic reaction to my drink. (sounds crazy, I know) She removed the drink and the calm MOD (manager on duty) Faith came to the table to see if I needed Medical attention. I was very impressed with their prompt and thorough attention. Since I am a Nurse, one of my dining companions is a Nurse Practitioner, and I wasn't having any respiratory distress we were not alarmed and continued to dine. I was just bummed I couldn't enjoy my Girly Martini and was hesitant to continue drinking alcohol after that. The food was Tahoe Joe's top quality, we shared 2 orders of the railroad shrimp, YUM! My German ex and I had the ribeye steaks perfectly cooked medium rare, tender, and flavorful with equally delicious sides (I love their huge salt crusted tender baked potatoes) and my NP enjoyed their steak house salad which looked yummy. We ended our meal with their incredible homemade cheesecake.

This place is terrible. With other restaurants close by, I was hoping to like this place. The booth that we were sat at, smelled like urine. I ordered the "Nebraska" ribeye (which happens to be the most expensive cut $28.99) and got a NY Strip. When I told the server, she said she was sure it was the Ribeye. She obviously doesn't know her steak. This place should go out of business. I'm surprised it's not already. It's only a matter of time. Spend your money somewhere else.

So disappointed. I've been here once like 3 years ago and I had a good experience. However this last time will be my last. Decided to come here with my bf for a late lunch. The place was dead, we waited about 4 minutes to be greeted by someone. There was no one in the front like at most restaurants. We got seated and out waitress quickly came and asked about drinks. I ordered their leamon aid and it was yumm. We ordered and we both got two salads. 40 minutes later! We got our food and guess what, no salads. Idk if she was the only waitress on duty but if she wasn't then shame on her, if she was then shame on the manager! I reminded the waitress, it seemed she forgot. The food was two thumbs down. The veggies were clearly frozen veggies that were boiled warm. My crab cakes were just ok. The salad was two thumbs down. We left very disappointed. For dinner we went to Denny's and let me tell yah, BETTER SERVICE, WAAY BETTER FOOD AND MUCH CHEAPER!

On a whim my husband and I decided to get lunch on Friday. More like I was starving and pressured him into taking me out. This place is fairly close to home and has a full bar and as far as I'm concerned that passes in my book. We have been here countless times. The first time I had ever had heartburn was from here actually. It was my fault because I ate every jalapeno off of the nachos which I knew I shouldn't and later that night I thought I was coming down with a fever. It was just heart burn though. Today we tried every drink on the new summer drink menu. (I took a photo of the menu so you could see for your self) I also took a photo of every drink we tried. My favorite was the Blackberry Cooler. Simple ingredients that tasted like summer. Couldn't have asked for anything better. I would highly recommend sitting in the bar on a non busy day. We have only sat in the regular dinning area once. The bar tenders are awesome. Today was no exception. She was awesome as with every bartender we have ever had. The only thing I didn't like here was the Bloody Mary. Not that good. All the drinks we had today were pretty good though. My husband had the Chicken Strips with fries that came with 3 different dipping sauces. Honey Mustard was my personal favorite. I had the Citrus Chicken Salad that was probably the best thing I have had here. It came with Avocado, the main reason why I ordered it, and plenty of it I might add. Great Salad. Awesome happy hour prices. I think we may stop by here more often. Happy Hour all day Sunday in the bar. Did Jesus finally answer my prayers?

I've been here 3 times with my father, and each time, the service was fabulous, the food amazing, and the experience wonderful. The last time we were here, the waitress remembered us and got our drink orders right the first time, got us our usual table, and was very good with the service. Love this place.

My husband and I visited last night for dinner. The service was good - had a little bit of a wait between courses. The manager came by and introduced himself and offered us a free slice of cheesecake because it was my husband's first time. My husband's Mai Tai was very good. Salad and hot rolls was very good also. Now the bad part - the steaks were awful and grisly. I ordered the Filet Mignon and it was terrible. Probably the worst Filet Mignon I ever had as it had so much grissle in it. The Rib Eye my husband had was the same and not very good. We even ordered it Medium Rare and it was kinda tough. They definitely do not order quality meats. We will probably not be coming back. If you go there for drinks, it will probably be OK.

So I have been to Tahoe Joe's in Fresno a great deal of times. This was the first time I have been to the Pleasant Hill location. First off the service was bad; we were hounded to get an alcoholic drink and when we just ordered water we were taken back by the severs judgmental look. We ordered an app and a couple sandwiches. My steak sandwich was terrible, there was a soggy tomato on it a couple of canned green chills on it. As soon as our server dropped of the dishes he walked by our table about ten times and never checked on us. I barley even ate three bites of the sandwich when he finally did come back he would not even ask how everything was. That was a crap experience. I will not ever go back again.

I'm convinced Tahoe Joe's will always be my favorite Steakhouse. The ambiance excites me as it stokes my appetite, and the food never disappoints. I always leave more-than-full and happy, especially after delighting in a slice of Nevada Cheesecake!

Food was grate , beer was cold , I sat at bar as I often do . Bartender where nice ! But when the bill came and I got my change not so happy ! The bill was something like 26.48 not bad for a grate dinner . But the change was not cool I got 12.00 dallier back out of 40.00 . I know it's just .50 but come on. Being a bartender in the city you don't do that ! I would never do that it's wrong . Biscay you stole from me ! I'm a big tipper when that happen I still tip but about half or less then I would have. Talk to your staff . If they need change give it to them .

First and last time here tonight. I was given the wrong salad, the wrong side, and all the people in our party were given rare meat, despite ordering medium (medium rare in my case). We all ordered different cuts and all three were undercooked, and I am baffled how they could manage that. Heck, I was warned that because of the cut I ordered it would be close to medium, but I can't remember being served a rarer steak at any restaurant (though I've never ordered something actually rare). They tried to "make it right", but for the price they charged, even after the "we messed up" discount, no thanks. I was told by the one member of the party who had been there before that what happened tonight was out of character for the place. But they had to correct too many mistakes for me to take another chance, especially at the prices they charge.

Once upon a time I had a friend, and on this particular day we were talking about steak and our favorite steakhouses and he mentioned a new steakhouse called "Tahoe Joe's" that he enjoyed a meal at and gave nothing but positive praise about it. So, thinking that my good friend had approved of this place, I expected nothing but good things. Instead all I got was mediocrity. Have you ever gone to a place that had been so heavily hyped only to find out that it's main component is mediocrity? Well, that's what I got from Tahoe Joe's. First of all, this place was insanely crowded. Which I actually took as a good thing that so many people were flocking to enjoy a meal at this place. When the hostess told me "It will be about 45 minutes", I laughed it off and me and the person I was with went to the bar. Now...I'm extremely picky when it comes to martini's. I'm a big time martini drinker. I expect nothing but a good martini wherever I go. I took one sip from the martini that was presented to me and immediately spit it back into the glass. I wanted to punch the bar tender in the face...what the hell was this garbage? A martini isn't hard to screw up but this felt like I was drinking vodka that had been filtered threw a used diaper. So, this place has already gotten on my bad side. Generally a bad martini is signs of bad things to come. After about a 45 minute wait we were finally called to be seated. I'm starving. I'm cranky about my bad martini and now I was about to get a waitress that had nothing but attitude. "Hi, how are you two doing tonight?" "Well, I'd be doing better if you had a more appealing appetizer menu" "Oh well, if you don't like it why don't you just leave?" That about set me off into full asshole mode. I thought my comment was tasteful and done in a respectful manner. I could have said "So far, I've had a bad martini, and your appetizer menu is worthless...what's next? You're going to crap all over my apple pie?" No, I didn't say that. I decided to be nice and state my disgust with the place so far but holding a lot back while doing it respectfully. But, this little tramp decided she wanted to get mouthy with me. "You know something Flo, I've waited 45 minutes to enjoy a f****** meal here, and so far I've gotten a martini that tasted like your c***, an appetizer menu that looks like it was picked out by a chef that flunked out of high school, and now I'm being belittled by a waitress who smells worse then the urinal at a Portuguese cat house. I mean seriously, you are aware of this invention called soap, right? So, here's the deal - go get me a waiter or waitress that isn't as idiotic as you, or I'm going to tell your manager that you called me and me friend retards and get your worthless, disgusting self fired cause the customer is always right." The look on her face was priceless. She was speechless. Before she could even say a word my assholeness kicked in again: "You know what don't even bother, I see your manager over there. I'm going to talk to him." After this she changed her tune completely and apologize for everything she said. This pleased me because it meant that I had won the battle. So after all the drama we placed our orders and my friend remarked at how much of a jerk I was. And I'm like "Well what do you expect? I'm not going to have some homely looking tramp who's been banged more times then any nail on the floor she stands on talk to me like that." So our food finally got there. The steaks were actually pretty good, but I couldn't help but think that my steak and mashed potatoes made the spit rounds amongst the people who worked there. Whatever. The food was actually really great. Spit and all. So despite the night full of drama, the meal was actually very good. The steak I had wasn't the best but it would have been enough to make me come back had it not been for our bitch of a waitress. Seriously, what company hires someone that is that easily rattled when doing customer service? Bad day or not, you'd think she'd have more resolve then that. But that incident has made me never want to go back to Tahoe Joe's. Well that and the bad martini. Two stars simply because the food was great but everything else about this place sucks.

Went for a birthday dinner last night with a group of seven. If you have a group of six or more call ahead & they will reserve a table for you.(they dont take reservation unless you have a very large party) Had the prime rib for two, baked potato, artichoke & onion frings appitizer & a couple of big beers... All was good, food a little on the salty side. You basic steak house, much better than Black Angus,Outback but not quite up to Ruth Cris. Pretty gnarly chocolate cake & cheese cake (normally complemtary if you tell them its your B-Day)

This review is mainly for our server. I wish I had got his name. I had called in for a party of 8, but ended up with 9. Our server was quick, super friendly, and accommodating to our family with our oddball requests. He was always behind us with drinks, and quickly cleared plates that were empty. The food was good, but the two desserts were amazing....My husband and I had yummy cheesecake and my mom and son had chocolate cake - both with thick whip cream topping mmmmm.

*HAPPY HOUR REVIEW ONLY! This was my first time coming here bc there isn't a tahoe joes near where I live. I came here to meet up with some of my family for happy hour. We got a table in the regular dinning area, although we came here for happy hour. The manager was kind enough to let us have happy hour in the regular dinning area because the bar area was full. There happy hour is from 11-6pm and 9-close mon-fri and all day sunday! I think this is awesome because most happy hours are usually after lunch before dinner. Another great thing about their happy hour is their appetizers are only $1.99 or $2.99!!! I mean how can you beat that!?!? My Auntie and Uncle went all out ordering for happy hour! They ordered 4 orders of the steak sliders which come with au jus, 3 orders of the shrimp, 2 orders of the loaded fries, 3 orders of the buffalo wings, and 2 orders of the onion straws. Everything came out in a timely matter. Our food basically covered our entire table! I've never gone all out on happy hour like this before! Of course we weren't the only ones eating all this we shared with a good group of people. I just had a great time being with my family, good food and great company. I also ordered their classic margarita which was also good, a bit strong for me, but at least they don't jip you on the alcohol. My one complaint about their happy hour is their selection of drinks. Wish they had more drink deals, but I think this is one the best food happy hour deals I've seen! I def think you get more bang out of your buck here than other restuarant happy hours. My favorite appetizer out of the ones we ordered would have to be the shrimp and loaded fries! Their customer service here is really great! Everyone was really nice, checked in to see how was our food and if we needed anything else. The other great thing that happened was when we were about to leave the manager came by and approached us about a situation he had about a party of 16 were trying to be seated and he needed to use our tables bc our are was the only place big enough to hold their party. So he offered to move us at a different table and give us a free cheesecake. We were almost done anyways so we got ready to leave and he gave us a free cheesecake! I thought that was awesome! Overall this is a great place if you're looking for some cheap deals! I will def try to come back here if I'm in the area!

My wife and I love the Joe's steak. It's a great deal when you get the dinner for two which includes appetizer, the dinner, and a cheesecake. I'm not a big fan of a well done steak, but the pepper seasoning on this steak is really quite nice. The appetizers can be hit or miss at times, but the smallest portion of steak with appetizer is plenty for me (and I leave the cheese cake for the wife). It's great to go home, but if you do eat in be aware that refills are not free, and that some things are an extra charge. Just be sure to ask before you agree to the extras if you dine in. If you do dine in then I would suggest the railroad shrimp.

I love Tahoe Joe's railroad shrimp and their peppercorn chicken. my wife and I recently went and she got the combo plate which she usually always gets. Its basically a 8 ounce or 10 ounce steak and you can pick either half rack of ribs a pork chop or a chicken breast. my wife always asks If she can get a chicken breast in stead of the steak and a pork chop, 90% of the time they do it with no problem. I mean what restaurant wouldn't substitute a steak for a peace of chicken. but for some reason our waiter considered this a huge problem and wouldn't do it, finally we asked for the manager and the manager was more then happy to do this, after this though it seemed our waiter wanted nothing to do with us. I wasn't asked if i needed anything with my dinner and didn't receive any refills and wasn't even asked about desert. I consider this hopefully a 1 time bad experience because I do really enjoy this place. the only other negative thing I have against this place Ive learned never ever order a drink with alcohol because there won't be any anyways. I mean Ive had some bad drinks before but I'm almost curious just to ask for the liquor on the side just to add in my self if anything just to see how much they give me.

This place was a friend's choice for lunch, and it was very good. The burger was excellent and the fries were very good. The service was good and the server was friendly. The bill for lunch was very reasonable -- I am used to San Francisco prices. All in all a good experience -- I would go back to this place.

I can't help it, I love Tahoe Joes. I've had better steak, but the $20 (per person) dinner for two can't be beat for value. Our recent visit was much better because the Joe's steak was medium with more pink than usual. The railroad shrimp is just a naughty little pleasure with all of that crunchy, sweet, salty goodness. The buttery green beans were al dente with thick bacon bits. The crabcakes were decent and the cheesecake still brought a little tear to my eye. C'mon, 1/2" grahahm cracker crust and homade whipped cream? I rarely eat dessert, and I'm not swayed by cheesecake, but this is one treat I close my eyes over. Yummy, yummy. TJ's, I love your campy goodness. Don't ever change!

Customer service comes and gos each time you visit. Too many times we've been in there and there have been sewer flies. Have tried at least half a dozen times to find something on the menu worth coming back for and have found nothing. Want food like this go to Black Angus, their more reliable !

On 2/2/2013 I went to Tahoe Joes with my husband and my parents to celebrate that my dad's cancer had not spread to his brain (for those that now of cancer, this is good news). We were sitting at a booth and talking when we heard this loud pounding, like someone was punching the back of our seats. I turned around to notice two small children hitting or punching the booth seats. I looked at the parents in hopes that they would tell their children to stop. They didn't. So this noise went on for another 5 minutes and my father became agitated and went over to ask the father if he would please have his children please stop punching the back of the booth seats. The father told my dad to f**k off. I heard his comment and turned around and told the father that all we ask is that the two little girls stop with the banging. The father told me to f**k off. Then he told my dad "go sit down you f**king old man and don't tell my daughter's what to do!". Wow.... we were all in shock and disabelief that a father would yell these inappropriate words infront of his two young daughters (I think maybe 3 and 5 years old). The wife did nothing except to tap on her husbands arm and say "no..don't." At this point it got hostile so I asked for a manager. I told the manager what happened and he said there was nothing he could do and that we could move to another table. Now, maybe it's just me, but how is it that we have to move? And how is it OK that a person could yell "f**k you" infront of small children and an elderly man? I don't get it. If it weren't for my mom who has a nervouse disorder I would have stood up and left the restaurant and called the police. But, no, instead I thought it might not be a good idea to get my mom all upset. And no I wasn't going to move to another table because my mom uses a walker and it would have been difficult to move her. Obviously the general manager was oblivious to what was going on and it was pointless to make a scene. I think the insensitive and rude father already made a fool of himself doing that. I am just shocked that Tahoe Joes would allow this kind of behavior! The only saving grace is that the big fat, rude insensitive father left with his wife and two little girls 10 mins after the whole event occurred. Thank goodness. I will NEVER go back to Tahoe Joes again to put up with that kind of tolerance to kids being out of control at the dinner table and a father that doesn't seem to mind using obscene language infront of his children. If that is what is tolerated at Tahoe Joes, then I don't want to have anything to do with it.

Dirty with bad business practices. I had dinner at Tahoe Joe's in Pleasant Hill just this past Saturday night. After I was done eating I looked at me empty soda glass, and noticed that the INSIDE of both my soda glass AND my water glass were thickly coated in what looked like fat or a white congealed cooking grease of some kind. My step-dad's glass was also in the same condition. We called the waitress over and showed her the glasses, and she seemed even more grossed out than we were, and asked me "was that diet or regular? -I'll get you another one" I said, no thanks. She returned shorty with the bill and a coupon for a free appetizer on my next visit, and scurried off before anyone could respond. She didn't even ask us if we wanted any dessert, and the two contaminated sodas were still on the bill. along with everything else.

A few years ago we ate here regularly as our family steakhouse. The quality started to slip and Black Angus improved, so we now prefer Black Angus in terms of food quality and service and have not been to Tahoe Joe's in some time. Decided to try it again tonight, and it was a big mistake. Sliced calamari steak was fine, always a good app there, and their sourdough rolls are served warm and fresh. Unfortunately, all downhill from there. Took about 30 minutes for our salad and soup to arrive. Clam chowder lukewarm, and like salad not memorable. Then another 30 minutes for entrees to be served. My wife and I both ordered steaks medium rare, but hers was overcooked and my two petite ribeyes rare. I sent the worse of the two back for more cooking, as it was essentially raw inside. Took 15 minutes to come back, and obviously was not the same steak, much smaller piece than the one I sent back. Greens beans were so peppered they were inedible, and I am a pepper freak. The shrimp that came with my wife's steak were overbattered and hard. They do a good potato, our baked potatoes and my daughter's fries were very good. Our server was busy, not sure doing what as every table was waiting an extended time for food. Dishes were not cleared timely, water and beverage refills were not offered, and there were minimal check-ins. The first two forks I received were both dirty, the second one brought out by the server and noticed by her as she was setting it down. Serious operations problems here, reminds me of the Hungry Hunter's in the area as they tried to cut quality and costs to keep prices down until they lost so many customers they went out of business. We will learn from our mistakes and stick with Black Angus in the future as our family steakhouse.

My husband and I were leaving the East Bay and starving this evening. We didn't know anything about this place and decided to stop. I figured it was probably like Outback and I could get a decent salad or sides. Not so much of that type on the menu. I ended up ordering a small half-size steak which is good for me because I don't eat a lot of meat especially red meat. I thought it might be good and since it came with a baked potato and salad sounded like a good choice. Nope, not at all. The steak was the worst steak I have ever had in my life and it was so gross I sent it back and the second was just as bad. I ate my potato and took the steak home to my dog. Not good food at all. In all fairness, the server was nice. They definitely didn't take my meal off the bill, but I guess I shouldn't have risked it from a place like this. YUCK!

How can they run out of medium-rare prime rib?? We were seated around 7:30 pm for dinner and the waitress notified us that they had run out of rare and medium-rare prime rib for the night. We had to settle for medium.I wonder how often they run out and how early one should arrive to be able to have the full selection available. But it was not bad, the outside was a bit on the salty side, but the dip was really good! It was a rainy Saturday when we went to eat there, which gave it a cozy feeling being inside on a wet day. It almost felt like being in a cabin in Tahoe. The two of us ordered the 14 oz. prime rib meal for two (my bf convinced me 10 oz. wouldn't be enough) for $26.99 per person, which came with an appetizer, soup/salad, sides, and cheesecake for dessert. We chose the railroad camp shrimp appetizer plate, one salad and one clam chowder, baked potato and steamed vegetables side. The shrimp was delicious. Crispy outside, tender and flavorful inside. It was more than enough food for dinner. We each had half our prime rib, a full bowl of soup, and the cheesecake boxed up to take home. Definitely not as good as House of Prime Rib in San Francisco, but for the price and amount of food you get, it will satisfy your meat craving. And I loved the thick and crunchy crust on the cheesecake!

Set-up with nice booths on the sides of the dining area. Been here a couple of times before, but the last time I came here I got one of their steak specials. The sirlion I ordered was gray in color and tasteless. Yuck! Thee worst steak I have ever ordered, it looked like it was stewed on the grill in it's own juices. Everything else, the service and decor (cabin theme) were fine. Parking is out back was a little too dark, but ample. Other times I have been here were good, I would rather head off to a Texas Roadhouse instead. Nothing like one bad experience to cuz you never to go back again.

We didn't feel like cooking, but one look at the prices and 5 minutes in the noise (even though it was more than half empty they seated us next to a loud, drunk group) I was lobbying for a trip to Safeway for a pack of whatever steak they had. I lost, so I ordered the Joe's Steak to split. The waitress makes an aside that it gets sent back a lot because it's not really steak, so for only $1 more we ordered a real steak that was 2oz more meat. Anyway... To be fair, it is better than Outback, the service was excellent and the steak was perfectly cooked medium I just get irked paying $20+ per person for quality I can achieve at home, but I know that's not the point of going out.

The worst restaurant I've been to in many years! I am compelled to write this, my first review, because I want to save others from a horrible dining experience. I took 2 friends to Tahoe Joe's and two of us ordered the "Dinner for Two" prime rib "rare to medium rare". The waitress was very slow and had to be asked at least twice for each simple thing (like silverware). The meal was delivered and all of our meat was well done. They said they had no less done meat available (that would have been good to know when we ordered). They substituted rib-eye so one of our party finished her meal while two of us waited for the rib-eye. Here's the kicker: They charged us over $15 more for the rib-eye than the prime rib and that was the best the manager could do. Our bill for this awful experience: over $100.

Tahoe Joe's....the stuff you get for the price you pay. My bf and I just came back from here and we are totally stuffed and we only paid about $60 and we have breakfast for tomorrow...steak, mushroom, & cheese omelette. We went for the "Dinner for Two" special, it's more like a dinner for a whole family. Here's what it came with: Appetizer, we got the railroad camp shrimp, it was practically a meal on it's own - salad and a dozen fried shrimp. Soup or Salad with your entree and your choice of potato and meat...steak or prime rib. We added the mushroom and onion topper as well. Mushrooms good, onions okay. Dessert...our server let us choose between the cheesecake or the chocolate cake even tho the menu only said cheesecake, we chose chocolate cake. We were pretty much content after the shrimp, his salad, my soup, and the warm bread that came. Thankfully I chose the 6 oz steak for dinner, he had the 10 oz steak. We both didn't finish it and that's why we have breakfast now. The chocolate cake, rich and chocolatey, I took like a bite and half and he had few. Our server asked us if we wanted to just take the cake home since we didn't finish dinner, but instead she offered to give us the cake in a to-go box with 2 forks cuz she knew we wouldn't finish it. So Tahoe Joe's is not bad for it's price and since there aren't other steakhouses near Antioch, so we would definitely go again. I'll just make sure that next time we go we don't eat all day.

I'm still very happy with Tahoe Joe's. Got to their happy hour for the first time the other day. I wish they would offer the smaller appetizer sizes on their regular menu, I finally got to enjoy the nachos without ruining my dinner.

I was having a frustrating day this past Sunday. Was out running errands, and decided to grab a quick early dinner. Learned one of my favorite haunts was closed for good - another place I wanted to try was closed Sundays. Another favorite was closed for their annual holiday party. The new place at the mall across the street was too packed to bother. So, decided to give Tahoe Joe's a try. My first ever visit. Walked in and headed for the bar - figured thats a good place for a burger and to watch a football game on a Sunday late afternoon. Tahoe Joe's is currently offering a great happy hour menu - I think the hours are 3-6 all days, and all-day Sunday. $1.99 for individual portions of appetizers, $2.99 for down-sized versions of entrees. I decided on a $2 order of cheese fries and a $3 burger. There are some special drinks - everything else is $1 off. The fries was an enormous portion for downsized/individual portion. Excellent, hot, etc. The burger was 1/4 lb instead of the usual 1/2 lb burger. Cheeseburger also comes with ample side of fries. The only disappointment, they won't cook any less than medium well, despite my request for medium rare. It was pretty dry - but can't complain too much for $3. The burger or appetizer alone would have been enough - for $5 I was stuffed! Service was prompt and friendly. Other specials look interesting - so I'd go back to try other items on the happy hour menu. As I left, I noticed a sign saying "Feedback? Tahoejoes.com ." So I sent feedback similar to this review. I got a genuine (not auto-) reply in less than 24-hours - something that always impresses me when testing corporate culture for customer service. The respondent told me they normally cook everything to medium - but I should be able to insist on something being cooked to medium rare, and that he would follow up with the local manager or chef. I don't really have any complaints - only that the burger was overcooked for my taste. But "they say" a complaint well-handled makes a more loyal customer than someone who had no complaints at all. Based on the feedback I got from sending a message via their website, I 'm certain to try Tahoe Joe's again soon. Too bad I'm not a fan of steak!

Had the best ribs here last night. The staff was friendly and attentive. The prime rib is really delicious too. My table was roundly impressed that the Caesar salad had anchovies in it :). Overall, a fine dining experience.

Ok, I went here on a date and we went for the supposedly famous ribs. Huh, these suckas are famous. What on earth are you talking about. Guess you haven't tried Kinder's or E&J's BBQ people. The ribs did come off the bone, but it didn't fall off the bone. It was as though the meat wasn't as tender and it could of been. But we also had the buffalo wings and I didn't care for them. Service was slow. The girls were friendly, but I was more busy hunting them down then any thing. Its a popular place, especially for families, but its probably equivalent to any chain restaurant like Apple Bee's and Outback. Nah, I rather go to some place else.

7/11/08.... went to dinner there the other night... so i can vouch for the food... and it was delicious!!! not cheap, and not an everyday type of place... but delicious nonetheless!! again... another place i can't vouch for the food.... what can i say, me and my friend were on a drinking spree... bar hopping in pleasant hill if you'd like. So, i had the pomegranate mojito and boy was it yummy... unfortunately, boy was it pricey too. we've decided we'll come back for the food sometime, because i LOVE steak. But she's already warned me it's not a cheap place to eat. However, the drinks were good and the bar staff were very friendly and attentive. That counts for something!

Not bad, not great. There were 3 of us. One ordered steak, one ordered ribs and one ordered the steak sandwich. The steak was OK, the ribs were above average and the steak sandwich was just average. We also ordered a chicken salad appetizer. Not real great. I don't like 'weed' salads, but weeds are kind of a CA thing now. The bloody marys were great.

I'm going to have to say that the experience here can be hit or miss. On one visit my party's food was super on point and really really good, on another visit half of it was good and half had to be sent back. It's a fun and comfortable place to enjoy a steak, and the servers are good at what they do. If you're craving a steak and not in the mood to wait super long or pay a grip (e.g. Ruth's Chris) then Tahoe Joe's will make you happy.

Weekend Happy Hour should be all i have to say. 1$ off martinis, margaritas, and beers. $2 cabin fries, nachos, quesadillas, onion strings and so much more. Don't forget the $3 burger and cabin fries combo. The plates are large and leaves you satisfied. The restaurant/bar reminds me of a lodge. There's a fireplace and everything is made of wood.... if that doesn't scream lodgey then nothing does. Drinks are a little sketch though. When i asked for a martini all i got was half a martini glass filled. WTF! Don't jip me when it comes to alcohol!! But good food, good drinks, good friends, and good times! If i'm in the area again, i'd like to come back

I've been dying to check this place out, and finally had an opportunity to do so last night for my bday dinner. The atmosphere was nice and casual. Although the service was a bit slow, our waiter was very friendly. I ordered the pastacio crusted calamari with capers appetizer and it was very, very good. However, their beef vegetable soup was too salty. My prime rib was also too salty, but the other prime rib dinners ordered at our table were not. Guess I got the bad batch. I did like their cesar salad very much. I'm not sure if we'll be going back anytime soon, but may have to in order to give them another chance at cooking my prime rib to perfection.

The steak was great and so were some of the sides. The green beans were a bit bland. Service was OK. My wife had the BBQ chicken which was just a breast and a couple of sides for I think $15. Yes its a bit overpriced but it did taste good. The steak did come in a generous size cut that my dog later dined on that week that made his tail wag. The meat was a tad salty is my only complaint. Stay away from the soup if you want to eat your dinner. They give out very large portions of clam chowder that made it pointless to want to finish dinner. Also if you not a fan of chives, they are in the mashed potatoes. Overall a great place to go out with the wife or family.

What can you say about a place that offers a 22oz Nebraska Rib eye, fabulous. The steak is always cooked to your liking, and the waiter will tell you how it will be prepared. My friends and I try to hit Tahoe Joe's @ least once a month. The mojitos weren't too bad either.

Had the day off in honor of Independence Day today, so we did something all-American - we drove an hour to eat at our favorite steak house. The Pork Chops are so incredible. And who knew green beans could be made so tasty! We saved room so could split a Nevada Cheesecake with Hot Fudge sauce! The service was excellent. The atmosphere is great. The people and obviously the cook are what bring us back again and again. Thank you! We even felt bad for our friend who had to work today, so we took a Pork Chop dinner home to him. Spreading that Pork Chop love, yup!

I would have to agree with the three star rating. It's relatively good for the price, but could be slighly cheaper. Sometimes they have these great coupons for a free slice of cheescake or complimentary appetizer, which is such an awesome deal. Their steak is always very tender, but can't compare to the Virginia City Filet Mignon, which is wrapped in smoked bacon -- can we say yummy! I think with the state of the economy, Tahoe Joe's has definitely felt the hit -- keep going so they don't close down, since they are the happy medium between places like Flemmings/Ruth Chris and Applebees.

Ive been here a few times with the fam, we used to do weekly dinners and this was dads favorite. I love steak and for something like 10-11oz of steak medallions would cost you about $10 and a 9oz steak would cost you about $14...ok?? So dad was especially happy he got a deal. My favorite are the drinks!! They never have a wait when I go and its usually half full. Theres seating on the patio which is nice, the decor is rustic cabin, they have a fireplace in the entry (but the fans are always on and I get cold) and a large bar area with booths. Did I tell you they have good drinks? Getting fucked up is a priority on my dinner nights so Im always in search of a place that has cool food (notice I didnt say good) with awesome drinks so that the meal is cheap and allows me to get more drinks! Yayyy! LOL This is one of those places.

I'm a fan of three things at Tahoe Joes, the baked potato soup (rich, creamy and decadent), the calamari steak with a lemon caper butter sauce (buttery, tart, rich and tender) and a Cosmo on the side to wash it all down.

Been to another location and it was awesome, this place sucked hard. It was a saturday night, and the whole place was only like 1/2 full. Figured there would be a wait, soon found out why: our waitress acted like we were non-existent, dropped out appetizer, salad, and dinner practically at the same time...was no good, not going back.

I'd rate this place 2-1/2 stars if I could. I took my husband here for his bday along with a few other relatives. Had a gift certificate so thought at least I'll get $50 off thr price of dinner. Don't think we'll be back. There are better steakhouses in the area...Stanfords, even Outback is better. Black Angus...eh--about the same. Standard bland dinner rolls out of a package and simple, i.e. bland dinner salad. Had to send my filet back--way to rare for a med. rare. At least they did give us a free slice of cheesecake (to share) due to the steak mishap. My family's prime rib was yummy though. My steak never did get cooked properly but I wasn't about to send it back a 2nd time when everyone else had eaten. Decor is fab...have to give them that. Appetizers...eh...again. Too bad I was looking forward to that dinner....

today, we didn't want to eat at one of those TGIF's or claimjumpers places and decided to try Tahoe Joe's. We didn't know it was a chain and it is GOOD for a chain. better than Outback and Claim Jumpers for sure. BUFFALO WINGS were tasty... a lil on the dry side but tasty. i wanted something light so i ordered the JOE STEAK SALAD and it was EXCELLENT!!!! Super tasty! this is no fancy steakhouse so we didn't expect to much. u get what u pay for. we all walked out with our tastebuds and tummies content. actually more than just content. for a chain, i give it a 5... but minus 1 for the service. our server was a nice lady but not a good server. i normally look at different factors and am very forgiving since i was a server at one point. but there were too many mistakes. we were neglected right when we were seated. waited long for anyone to greet us at the table, no utensils, drinks took forever, no bread till dinner came, no refills, etc. however, she did come around and chit chat and crack jokes as she handed over the tab. but that is after our meal.

Last Saturday night my wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner and were gravely dissapointed! We sat in the bar, so I wasn't expecting the best of service as it was happy hour and they were busy. We were not even greeted for a full 15 minutes, even longer before we recieved our drink order. My wife had a rib eye which she enjoyed and I had thier T-bone steak. The steak was riddled with grissle, even on the filet side of the bone. I attempted to eat it, but it was really the WORST STEAK I have ever been served any where!! After repeated attempts to attract our waitress, I finally got her attention and sent the steak back. She talked with the manager (who didn't even have the class to come out and talk with me!) He reduced the price of my entree by half and that was the end of it...I wasn't offered a new meal, NOTHING!!! I paid the bill and left a 10% tip...reasoning that it wasn't our servers fault. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE,Folks...

As for steak houses this place is great. I was craving a simple dinner salad and it was perfect. My medium Joe's special steak was to die for. Such good seasoning that I didn't even need to dip in my favorite creamy horseradish sauce. My boyfriend ordered a burger but when he tasted my steak he wished he would have ordered steak. Also, he ordered clam chowder and it was quite good. Our server was awesome and gave us a coupon for a free apetizer the next time we came. Nice touch and we'll be back.

While not a Ruth Chris' (judging from what I've heard - I can't afford to go there), this is by far the best steakhouse in the area for the price. While still a little steep (my wife and I get out of there for just over $70 including wine and beer), the flavor and portion size make up for it! My wife typically orders either the Ribeye or Prime Rib. My favorites are the Center-Cut Pork Chops and the Ribeye. In the MANY times we've been there, we've never been disappointed. If you are a pork chop fan, this is your place. I've never had a better chop! I don't know where they get their green beans, but they are to die for! Service is usually good. However, they've been a little slow once or twice. This is the reason why I can't convince myself to give them a 5. Don't get my wrong though. The place is top notch. We go there at least once every other week. It is by far our favorite steakhouse. It puts others like Outback and Black Angus to shame.

as far as steakhouses go, this is probably the best i've had. food: so good and fresh, unlike black angus where everything tastes and looks like your food's been sitting around for hours and nuked once you order. and it's not just the steaks that are always so juicy and cooked perfectly; yesterday we had the calamari appetizer, which was unlike any calamari i've ever had!!! it's not these deep fried little rings; when it's brought out it looks like a fillet of fish, cut up into strips..it's so juicy and good. mixed greens salad is also the best salad i've ever had. service: the reason we got to try this amazing appetizer was cuz last time we were here, our server forgot to bring us our salad, and just for that he gave us a free appetizer card!! then last night our server was again very friendly. i've also been here with a huge party of 10+ and even then service is awesome.

Every time we go I'm disappointed with the speed of the kitchen. The wait staff does everything they can, but we waited for about 45 minutes after our salads for our entree this last Father's Day. Only to have our food cold. It was very frustrating and it's not the first time. We have been other times (non-holiday) and it was slow. Baked potatoes are fabulous though, but it's been a lot of misses for us.

Poor quality food, poor value, slow (but friendly) service. Next time I'm craving a steak from a chain steakhouse, I'm going back to Outback Steakhouse, not to Tahoe Joe's. It took forever for the server to bring bread to our table. In fact, we ordered an appetizer because it took so long to get bread - two cold rolls. After ordering the appetizer, we finally got the rolls. We ordered the calamari appetizer and two steak dinners. The calamari was awful. We took a few bites and sent it back. At least the waitress took it back and removed it from our bill with no questions asked. The steak I ordered was undercooked. Outback Steakhouse prices are comparable, but the quality, taste and selection of food is so much better.

I love coming to this place for the Nebraska rib eye. The best seasoned steak compare to any other restaurant such as this. The beans are the bomb, bacon bits and onions, the steak seasoned just right. The service is excellent, the strawberry lemonade is awesome and the railroad shrimp is off the hook. I take my girl here alot. Its a place to enjoy at least 4 times a month! The prices are moderate but make up in the quality and quantity in food. The management is always friendly and concerned about customers.

I am not a fan of their normal menu but I am ecstatic about the Happy Hour menu...4 items for 1.99 and 4 items for 2.99. The burger is delicious, the steak sliders are my favorite and the loaded fries are to die for. I tried the Railroad Camp Shrimp and while the shrimp were very succulent, the tempura was tough for me to chew. If you don't have great teeth, maybe skip that one and go for something else. The HH menu is available on the patio and in the bar and the service is pretty good. Bartenders are friendly and the food is served promptly. The soup I tried was the Vegetable Beef and other than it being really salty, I could tell it had good flavor. If you feel like lunch portions they have a lunch menu now until 2 and it is also fabulous. It is convenient and really nicely priced for a light lunch or a snack. If you want alcohol, a 22 oz. domestic draft is $3, $4 house wine, and $5 margarita's. Yummy!

Obviously, it's not fine dining or local, seasonal, and organic...but it is surprisingly good. We went on a Saturday night around 8:30 on a whim. Thought it would be like Chili's or TGI Friday's, but so much better. It really exceeded our expectations. Reasonably cheap drinks, nice-sized portions of surprisingly tasty food, enough people but not too crowded, great value! Can't wait to go back and try the all-day happy hour on Sundays.

4 stars....-1 because of the whole chain thing...and they aren't open for lunch....but this is one of my favorite places...I can't believe all the bad reviews....railroad shrimp....prime rib dip and beef medallions.....soooo good...service ok...it's always packed... so they are busy...we get it to go from time to time...

I took my hubby here for his birthday. It was new to the both of us, but my coworkers recommended it. We had lunch hereand it wasn't busy at all. The hostess swiftly seated us near the bar & offered $2 appetizers. The food was good and I like the woodfire-grilled steaks! The waitress was really nice and brought out a slice of this heaven-sent cheesecake for my hubby (TRY IT!!! YUMMMMMMMM). I would recommend it and will definitely be going back.

Came once, never returned. I think the idea of having Mason jars as glasses is a neat idea but very unpractical if they only hold 2oz (approximation taking into account my thirst and average drinking speed). so I was waiting for refills the whole time and even though it was early in the day and the place was slow: so was the waiter! I ordered Joe's Steak Medallion. I know I am a freak but the menu said "skewered" so I expected it being on some type of skewer. it wasn't! you may think: nice, they did all the work and already removed it. well, there had never been a skewer in my meat. the grill lines were different on each individual chunk... all of which were cold (not luke-warm: cold!). and one of the sides was missing (I think it comes with several vegetables including green beans and I was missing them) and the (slow) waiter was just making a lame joke about it. that was a big waste of money!

Our first visit to Tahoe Joe's. We thought it would be a good place to take my 93-year-old father for Easter. Getting him from the car into the restaurant was an ordeal but once we were seated and actually got some food on the table I was satisfied. Can't say much for the steak or the BBQ chicken. The grilled pork chop was a success. Salad soup and baked potato all good. I enjoyed the ice cold drinks served in mason jars. Overall I can give these guys two stars for the food and one more for the service. I would consider going back at some time in the not too distant future.

Best. Steak. Ever. Their baked potatoes are HUGE and roasted on the outside with chunky salt. Only one of two places I will actually eat shrimp, and by eat I mean INHALE - they come with a breading I can't figure out except to say it is made out of heaven, a thin soy/garlic (maybe?) sauce that is sweet & tangy, on top of a "salad" of lettuce and peanuts and stuff. I usually eat a few shrimp then pour the rest of the sauce on the salad and just eat that. Basically I'm just torturing myself writing this review right now since I have been avoiding the more fattening food in recent months. T-minus 5 months until my birthday though! Can we say.. binge?

I can't find a bad thing to write about Tahoe Joe's. I'm in town for six weeks on business, and eat out on the company's dime every night. I've been here for three of those dinners despite being the kind of person who generally likes to try different restaurants. Restaurant is clean. Every encounter with the staff was friendly. Food is excellent. Portions are perfect. Prices are fair (though according to my friend, it is more than fair for a 29 day aged ribeye). Ordered the ribeye steak twice, and the BBQ chicken once. I don't normally order the same thing on return trips. The ribeye is very flavorful, and seasoned just right. (Hint to other steakhouse chains...seasoning is meant to augment flavor and is not meant as a preservative). Green beans are delicious and crispy, and cooked just right. Smashed-potatoes are good, but hard to mess that up. BBQ chicken was excellent. The portion of BBQ chicken breast served was generous and also cooked just right. Not dry and not pink with just the right amount of sauce topping it. The chicken took a little longer to prepare compared to the steaks, but worth the wait. If anything, that just gives you an excuse to order another delicious Whiskey Sour generously served in a jar. I'm traveling with a friend from Texas who states that their Tri-Tip Sandwiches are the best. I've got a week and a half left here before I return to So Cal. Will definitely have to find time to make a return trip, while looking forward to taking my family when they open a new location in So Cal.

Oh man, this place is great! I loved everything about my experience at Tahoe Joe's First of all, the atmosphere - the place is clean and well-lit. The decor is that of a Tahoe cabin, and although you mourn for the forest they must have destroyed to line the whole interior with blonde wood, it does lend a very comfortable feel to the place. Our waitress that particular day was overly friendly in a plastic kind of way at first, but she later turned out to be genuine and took good care of us, making sure to get our orders and our modifications and substitutions right. She was patient with our indecision and did not rush us off to clear the table even though we dawdled over the meal. We sat at some booths in the back, and the cushioned benches were comfortable enough we didn't notice them. I didn't feel squeezed into a tight spot at all. The portions were huge and high-quality. The menu said the meats were from grain-fed beef aged a considerable amount of time, and it showed. The quality of the meat was excellent. My steak was deliciously pink on the inside and thickly crusted on the outside without any burnt patches. It was outstanding, my mouth is watering with the memory of it. Her hamburger was also huge and she said it was very tasty. I would place Tahoe Joe's a good solid cut or two above Outback steakhouse, which is very good enough, but this is better. My only qualm is that it's a bit pricey, but then, it's worth it. I have no clue who is writing these snotty negative reviews - Anton Ego from the movie Ratatouille? Multi-billionaires who look down their noses at any meat that's not encrusted with precious jewels? (Richard Dreyfus voice) Who ARE these people? In my experience, for a casual steakhouse, the meal and the atmosphere and the service were excellent. I look forward to my next outing to Tahoe Joe's.

Why the one star? Was it the Fly' s / Gnats buzz us though out dinner? Was it the plastic tab that comes from a bread stuck to the bottom of the steak? Was the 1/2 cup water that came out of the pasta? I gave them 3 attempts.

This place is only slightly better than Claim Jumper's which if where they totally bit off their idea for decor and meal style. Easier to get in and I think they take reservations so you won't wait either. The food comes in those massive portions so just split your plate and doggie bag from the beginning. It's just soooo EAST BAY! Those of you who are in the know will immediately understand. It's also no mistake that this place is across the street from Sunvalley Mall.

Boooooooo! Normally I wouldn't even review a chain restaurant, but it was so bad I had to. The meat is the worst quality I have ever had. This is one of those restaurants that gives you a ton of bad food to cover up for the quality of the slop they serve. I have only been there once, and that was more than enough. The one good thing was the service was very good, but it could not cover up for the low grade dog food they slang.

  • Katlin A.

My mom and I split an aged steak here, and we both got food poisoning- I think it was "aged" because it was yesterday's steak which had sat out under heat lamps all day long, because the waiter told us we could not get it medium rare- only medium or well. BEWARE! Don't order the steaks.

When they first opened, I thought they had the best steak in town, fillet minon wrapper in bacon. I went back a few more times and the food got worse. It was nothing extrodinary like the first time I went. It seems like they went downhill in the past few years

I've been here only once, a few years back, and the only thing that I really remember was that there were 3 of us and the bill came back to be $96! But then again, we had a very filling meal. I have to say that the food wasn't anything extraoridinary, but the I love the atmosphere. I feel like I'm dining in a lodge cabin up in the mountains!

We dine at Tahoe Joe's at least 3 times a month usually for lunch. We are always greeted by a friendly staff member and promptly seated. The restaurant has a great ambiance with comfortable seating at tables, booths or at the bar. We always order the Railroad Camp Shrimp appetizer. It is AMAZING! I don't know how they do it but I want that recipe! Salads are always fresh and flavorful and their burgers are juicy and tender. The chicken is smoked and is tender and flavorful. TJ's Cheesecake is the BEST I have ever had! It's not your traditional cheesecake that usually has a dense texture. The consistency is a lighter, creamer texture more like a mousse which is piled high with fluffy whipped cream. If you really want to indulge have them add chocolate sauce on the top. Oh my gosh! Worth every penny. In addition, if you join the "Friend of Joe" email club on their website they will email you a coupon for a free appetizer and subsequent coupons there after. Trust me, get the Railroad Camp Shrimp! It's a $9.99 value for free. You can also use that coupon to upgrade for the larger sized appetizer for just a few dollars valued at $14.99. Yes, more to love! When you receive your bill they sometimes include a phone survey. Take it within 3 days and you will receive a free piece of Cheesecake on your next visit! I have also found coupons in the Contra Costa Times. We have always had great food and service at Tahoe Joe's. I highly recommend it.

So I've been to the Vacaville location and have always been pleased, so I figured this location would be just as nice. My boyfriend and I ordered the dinner for two... appetizer (we got the calamari), salad, 10 oz prime rib, and a slice of cheesecake. The calamari was ok... it tasted a bit oily from the sauce. The salad was fine...you can't really screw up a salad. What was weird was within two minutes of our salads being served, our dinner was served. Our waitress wasn't the one who served it, but she was at the table next to us and was like "wtf...why did that come out so fast?" It was a bit annoying, but I didn't want to send it back and have our medium-rare prime rib sit under a heat lamp... So by the time we started eating, we realized why the meal came out so quickly...most of it wasn't even cooked. Yes, we could have sent it back...but at this point we didn't care and just wanted to leave. We told the waitress and she felt bad... but honestly who knows what would have happened if we sent it back (flashbacks from scenes of "waiting" went through my head)... Anyways, we got our slice of cheesecake to go. They have definitely cut down on the size of the slice, which is a bit disappointing when you're sharing it with another person. The crust was hard as hell and every time we tried to get a bite with our forks, the crust would go flying off the plate (a bit annoying...but our dog seemed happy). Overall, definitely not coming back to this location. The only plus was our waitress gave us a card for a free appetizer...

this tahoe joes location is across the street from sun valley mall but it might as well be in the mall. the crowd and staff is just as ghetto as the mall and the quality of the food is below average. they are only open nights so this adds to a very long wait for an ok meal. as fr as steaks go you can still get a much better cut at claim jumper, outback and even the chinese buffet down the street. from day one i have had bad experiences with the kitchen and my meat being too undercooked or completely well done! well done is a sin. why tahoe joes is still open at this location is a sin. this place is giving the chain a very bad name. next thing we know is they'll change the name to reno joes and go buffet style.

Never maid it past the host podium, stood there for a few minutes while a couple of kids (hosts) were having a much more important conversation about some dramatic aspect of restaurant life. I was SO turned off by being snubbed by these two that I asked for a manager. The manager was eager to offer a free meal of which if not already having seen the movie Waiting I may of accepted. I asked around the next day at work and as the food goes I understand we did not miss much. Think I will stick with outback for a casual steak dinner.

Grub'n buffalo wings made with Franks Hot sauce. Goes great with a Hefeweizen. This seems to be the place that everyone goes to on the weekends in suburbia so I'd try to get their a little early 6pm or later like 10pm.

Tahoe Joes is a good place to go if you don't want to spend much and just want a steak and a martini in nice surroundings. The food is good value for the money and they know how to make a straight up chilled martini. Also great for takeout. For $ 40.00 you can make a nice dinner for three people for two days. A lot of food. This place is better than Claimjumper or Elephant Bar in my opinion and much less noisy.

My husband and I go all the time even though we have to cross a bridge to get there. We don't even need a menu. We always order the dinner for two and get the Railroad Camp Shrimp, I get a bleu cheese garden salad and he gets the clam chowder, two 14 oz .medium well prime ribs that I dream about, with baked potatoes (one with butter, sour cream, and chives, and one with butter, sour cream and bacon), then share their cheesecake. Man, their cheesecake! It's so rich and creamy with just the right amount of tanginess and a graham crust so thick you have stab through it. But its sweet, buttery goodness makes it worth the effort. So sad that it doesn't open until after lunch.

Oh come on guys ! This place had the best service EVER. The food could have really tasted like dog shit (which it didnt it was very good) but god damn out server kicked ass. He had darker spiky hair, i wish i can drop a name but i really forgot. He was there to help us pick the right wine to go with food and the right drink to go after dinner, and he even made one of our drinks himself because he was being creative. So yeah kick ass keep up the good work

I was getting coupons in the mail all the time to try this place for the last year. So I finally went in twice before I decided to review. The very first time I ate here I had potato soup and it was very tasty and delicious.... they give you just enough to wet your appetite for more tasty food.I ordered a rib eye steak the first time with a baked potatoe with the works and green beans al dente with bacon bits. The green beans were very tasty also and I loved the baked potato. Howvever the rib eye was fat and tough and so blubbery I had to spit up pieces in my napkin. The service was wonderful and our waiter was very attentive.. The secod time we went in we had the same waiter and I ordered shrimp scampi with fettucini and vegetables and it also came with some type of foccacia bread? Well this time I enjoyed everything on my plate. The shrimp was in a bowl with tomatoes and other stuff and it was very tasty .... vegetables and fettucinni were also quite tasty. I had enough for lunch the next day and yummy .......it was delicious. I want to try some sort of steak at least one more time to see if it was just a bad cut of meat that they got on sale or what.. But the food was very tasty here and I would definitely come back but watch out for the blubbery steaks for the time being. Perhaps I will ask the waiter next time what he would reccommend that would be tender when it gotto my table.

The one star is for the food poisoning that both my sister and I got after sharing the prime rib - which we asked for med-rare, but said it couldn't be done because of the cooking process? I find it a little funny that they sell prime-rib as their big specialty and they admit that its sitting in a warming oven continually cooking until the whole roast is well done which is by the way what we ended up with, not even any pink on the entire thing. There is no doubt in my mind that it came from Tahoe's because we both had it pretty bad, surprising because I would have thought that everything that could have possibly given us food poisoning would have been killed in the cooking process just like the beef.

This is a basic chain restaurant where suburbanites go on friday night. Much like olive garden or claim jumper or elephant bar or schlotskis or whatever you want to call it. That being said, ITS GOOD. food, beer, atmosphere. Its all pretty good.

Man oh man, this place has delicious meat. So far this month, I've eaten there on 3 seperate occasions. They have a great seating policy for the booths around the bar, and although this place is always booming the wait is never very long. Don't even get me started on the food. Best clam chowder I've ever had...even better than San Francisco's finest. The rib simply slip off the bone and melt in your mouth. The steak is always cooked perfectly to your preference, and the cheesecake will make you inner cheeks tingle with flavor. The only downside to this place is less than perfect margheritas, but the other drinks are awesome. And the bar is always aiming to please. Check it out. It'll make for a good meal wearing jeans. Great for a casual date and for all meat lovers like myself! P.S. Chicken, rice pilaff, and prawns are all delicious too, oooh...and the heaping mountain of mashed potatoes with bits of grilled bacon and cracked pepper. P.P.S. did I mention their amazing green beans? cracked pepper and onions grilled to perfection over these little green dream things.

Maybe we should have had apps for dinner? Crab Cakes were to die for, and so was the ahi plate (seared rare and they got it right) and you even got a little mixed green with it. I'll have to try the Happy Hour specials next time. But the Caesar had way too much dressing, the green beans were salty, and the usually savory prime rib just wasn't this time, a little tough. And does every fish special have to have lemon-butter-caper sauce? Seems like every time we go it is that. It's back to the pork chops and mashers next time, cant go wrong there. Service is usually good, they are attentive without hovering. Any food issue they tended to with no delay. Every place has a few tweaks they can do to improve, Joe's are little ones that I hope they make before our next visit there.

Sadly tonight at Tahoe Joe's in Concord tonight the service was less them expected. We arrived and gave our name to be seated. We were told it would be 10-15 minutes. The large parties after us were told the same amount of time. After about 30 minutes I saw them seat a group that came in after us. I went to the hostess and asked why and was told that they called my name and paged me but there was no response. Since I was sitting right next to the hostess area I told them that the statement was untrue and nobody had paged us. We were then seated. We finally placed our orders. I had ordered a salad. Now normally I would expect the salad to come chilled. Mine came in a bowl that was still hot from the dishwasher which caused the lettuce to begin wilting. One of our party ordered soup and the soup did not come with everyone else's. This was the first time I had a bad experience at this place.

We only come here occasionally because it's too pricey for our weekly date nights and we prefer Ruth's Chris for more special occasions, BUT the food is always fantastic when we eat here! My favorite entree is the petite filets wrapped in bacon with the baby greens salad, green beans and mashers as sides. My husband usually "switches it up" each time, no particular favorites for him. The only disappointing thing about this establishment is that the service can vary. The food has been consistently good for us, but we seem to have less luck with the employees. For example, we were greeted by a very pouty blonde hostess when we came in last weekend - she literally tossed our menus onto the table in front of us which, luckily for her, we found more entertaining than insulting at the time. I'm assuming she was just having a bad day, because we hadn't been helped by her previously and therefore I doubt we were the cause of her behavior. This experience was enhanced by our extremely awkward server. At first, we thought she was just behaving oddly around us, but we quickly realized she was acting equally weird with each of her tables. She wasn't as attentive as she could've been, but we kinda appreciated the reprieve from the awkward interaction haha. This was our most interesting service experience to date at Tahoe Joe's, but it wasn't necessarily bad. I do feel that others may have been bothered more by the experience than we were though. Regardless, we loved our meals and will be coming back again in the future!

Went here to celebrate my birthday, well worth it. My mans steak was super good, my chicken veggies, salad and guiness were great. Our waitredd was super down to earth, funny and sweet. I noticed her talking to other customers confortably around the dining room. I want to say her name was Alisha. She had a hippy feel to her and made us feel right at home. The food, prices and ambiance was great.

Every time I've come here the food has been just OK, the service has been lackluster and the overall feel is just blah. It's not a place I want to go to. But some friends will inevitably want to meet up here. I'd rather go to BJ's Brewhouse or Lucille's.

Appetizer: railroad camp shrimp was good, but I would pay less for it. The shrimp was over cooked and every bite had a bitter aftertaste. Entree: 6 oz Joe's steak was way too dry. I asked for medium well and it came well, well done. =( I had two bites and that was it. Fries were OK, but Wendy's fries is better than theirs. On the upside, my husband loved his burger, our server was friendly, and service was good! Therefore, three stars for the burger and the server! Our check was $53.61 for two people (before tip, of course), and I'd say that was not worth above $30.00 at all.

This place was a bit of a disappointment. Last minute decision, we decided to go here because we were all tired and not quite in the mood for driving. It's been a while since I have been to this one and it's not quite like I remember. First off, the place was loud and not as well kept as I remember. We were seated upon walking in and quickly greeted by our waitress. I had scanned the menu before coming in so, I had an Idea of what I wanted. I needed a drink, so I started with the "Passion Fruit Skinny Dipper" Martini - Which has passion fruit sky vodka, Dekypper Peach schnapps and pineapple juice- This was extremely good, very sweet and refreshing though, not very strong. My second drink I had was the "Raspberry Lemon Drop" Martini - Which is citrus vodka, home made lemonade, dekueper raspberry liqueur- Also very good and not too tart. Ok, so I was in celebration mode , so three times a charm my third drink( which was my favorite) was the " Jo's Cosmo Tini"- Kettle one Vodka cointreau orange liqueur, cranberry juice and a hint of lime-Very tasty and the strongest out of the three. Now for the food, I ordered the Shrimp Scampi witch comes with fettuccini I opted for no pasta and extra veggies- they come with a salad and I ordered the mixed greens with candied walnuts, cranberries and goat cheese. My mother ordered the citrus chicken salad- which comes with grilled chicken and avocado, mandarin oranges and crispy wontons, my brother ordered the prime rib steak which he got the potato that comes with it, his wife( same as mine, tough with the pasta) and my father ordered the rib eye steak which comes with a baked potato. First off, the presentation of all our food just SUCKED!!! Even our little salads looked like a blind 2 year old put it together, absolutely no presentation what so ever. My mother's salad was a joke- Literally overloaded with the crispy wontons (it literally looked like they pored the whole bag onto it) like where was the salad??? My mother is not a picky eater and she was disappointed, but no one was more disappointed then my father with his steak, which he said was mostly fat and absolutely the worst steak he had ever had- We actually mentioned it to the waitress and she took it off our bill and let him choose something else. My scampi was certainly skimpy in size though surprisingly was decent in flavor. Overall, I would give it 2.5 stars however, the drinks were certainly good and our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. Will I be back? Probably not.

I like the location and atmosphere but the food is horrible. I just left with my wife and two kids and paid around $90. Nobody even finished the meals. We just picked at it. My chicken was so dry it was like beef jerky. The mashed potatoes has such large pieces of skin in it you could not even chew it. I will only come back here for bar drinks.

Laura L. had a $5 coupon for 2 lunch entrees, so I wanted to try this place. The decor was very Tahoe like...natural woods, lots of bear motifs, hard wood floors, padded benches and it wasn't crowded. Our server was very sweet and was very brisk with our orders and drinks. I ordered the bowl of clam chowder and the Citrus Chicken Salad. My bowl was pretty big, but what I didn't expect was how thick the soup was. There were lots of clams and potatoes, and it was heavy on the cream. I thought the soup was okay, but I'm more partial to Boudin's clam chowder flavor. My Citrus Chicken salad, was big. The wonton strips must have been fried with salt, cause that part made the first bite a bit off. But after I mixed everything together, all the flavors blended well. I liked the Gorgonzola cheese, that was really yummy. And anything with sweet walnuts is a plus. I never got to finish it though since the soup pretty much filled me up. The fresh bread they gave us was good too. All in all, I'd come back here to try some of their other items. Apparently they have a great happy hour, so maybe I'll do that next time.

Rated for my meal served at the bar. Friday, 7:30p.m. Bartenders are slammed. Both are running around with their heads cut off, filling drink orders off the printer and serving 7 bar high tops and the large bar. They are courteous and professional. What awaits? A likely mediocre low end 'merican chain meal. What transpires is my leaving in surprise. The good: Jesse at the bar. I don't normally call out servers. It is their job to do well at or to slack on. He is genuine, personable, and efficient, and obviously a veteran despite his young age. He should work in Vegas as a club server and make $5-10k on good weekends. Just for being no b.s. and for being nice. He is one of the nicer people you will run into. Down to earth. Steak: 9oz "black angus sirloin" which = USDA's lowest grade feedlot grainfed beef - Reserve. Good restaurants (and Costco) serve Choice grade, the best for your $. Prime is reserved for expense account restaurants of the world-Morton's, Ruth's Chris (ask for their steak without butter and tell me it is as good as you thought it was), etc... Somehow, some way (and I have worked in fine dining and am a solid home cook), it is a perfect medium rare, as ordered. It is very flavorful without being overly salted. Never had a reserve grade steak this good. Let alone from a chain restaurant. Let alone a lean cut like sirloin. Look at my ratings. I seek out negativity first and approach hospitality experiences with a critical eye. Side mixed greens salad: 5 good ingredients: lettuce, tomato, raisin, walnut, blue cheese. Simple. Solid. Good. Downside: a packed house meant a warm plate :( Baked potato: standard with outer salt. Nice. The bad: green beans. Obviously microwaved. Bacon? Overly salted. The side was included, but it was a throwaway.

Food is good. Happy Hour Specials totally work for me, the beer prices at Happy Hour a great value ! The Lil Beef Sliders, u-m-m-m The one issue i had is with the weekend manager, he seems inept at keeping his staff at their work station lots of TOM FOOLERLY. We had to call from our cell to the restaurant (from the bar)..."uh-h-h, we're in your bar, been her for 10 minutes, it's a ghost town here".... great happy hour, friendly servers, food is very good and not pricey. If you go in as weekend...er- a well.... Why do the hostesses always insist on seating diners at tables next to each other? I like having some privacy, not sitting next to 5 other couples crammed together in on corner. I just decline "I DON'T WANTTO THERE, I WANT TO SIT OVER HERE"... then proceed to my preferred table. BIG beers, delicious food and reasonable prices,l I love Happy our at T.J'S ! RR '

Let me lead by saying that I don't eat a lot of meat. Let me follow by saying that I wouldn't go back. My boyfriend has been to this restaurant before and I think that meat eaters genuinely like this place. I came on a recommendation from a friend, but after eating here, we must have different taste in food. The Railroad Shrimp were not at all what I thought they were going to be. I've never eaten a fried shrimp with a batter that is worse. It was SO hard we should have sent it back, but we were guessing that they are actually supposed to be served like that. They came out of the kitchen super fast so I'm not sure if they were fried earlier and were sitting around waiting for us to order them? Not that that would have produced a rock hard crust. Maybe they forgot the baking powder or soda in the batter? Not sure. The sauce that they came with was tasty but there was a LOT of it. The crabcakes were meh. The sauces didn't make up for them either. The portions are large and like I said I think my meat eating boyfriend did enjoy his food. One extra star because the server did his job and our food came out quickly and drinks were full.

I've never been disappointed here. Their customer service is always amazing! I have had a few times in the past where my steak has been undercooked ( I do not like bloody meat, I want it cooked all the way!), and when I point it out, they wish it away and replace it immediately with a new one. The manager has always brought out the new plate, and apologized for the inconvenience. They've always comped me for the issue as well (in the span of five years it's only happened twice, so don't think I cry wolf when there's not really an issue!) and their cheesecake is to die for! I always take home half of my meal to save room for the cheesecake! Keep it up tahoe joes!

Fantastic server. She had suggestions that knocked our socks off. The steaks were cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. We got a cheesecake too that was to die for. We did the double dinner with the entree and it cost us about $45. Love it here.

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. My husband and I were walking our dogs down at Heather Farm Park and Gardens and were just about to head back, when we realized we weren't quite ready to give up being outside yet. So once we wrapped up the walk, we hopped online to research and find a place where we could indulge in some afternoon drinks while enjoying the day on the patio. Enter Tahoe Joe's, which happened to have a great happy hour, even on Sundays. It turns out they had pretty great food, too. We ended up tasting a variety of appetizers and had a couple drinks. We left with full bellies and a memory of a great afternoon for only $50. We also enjoyed great service. We plan to go back and revisit our waitress, Hailey. She was so sweet, checked on us, took her time, and answered our questions about the menu. The only thing keeping this from being a Five Star review is the fact that the bar wasn't the best. We started out with margaritas which were less than impressive, and ended up switching to even simpler selections -- a Greyhound for me and a Crown and Coke for the hubby. The Verdict: Great food and service for a great price. We will definitely be back.

It was a good deal for the dinner for two $21 a person. Everything we had (crabcakes,Joe's steak, mashed potatoes/gravy & green beans) were all decent.. but not excellent. The service was slow, but it really wasn't our server's fault. He was great..running all over the section trying to deal with peoples requests. They should have had another server in the section. With just me and my bf, we were there for almost 2 hours!

Nice location but the food is not very good and the service? Forget about it! I'm tired of waiting FOREVER for a half-assed meal and then paying $70.00 for two people, including 2 glasses of wine. The kitchen is ridiculously slow to get orders out. . . consistently slow. Steer clear!

Came in here for dinner, the Railroad Camp shrimp appetizer was all it was cracked up to be, heck the dressing on the lettuce bed was superb. The steaks were perfect, the green beans had a nice touch of flavor, not overcooked. Huge baked potatoe, and some good beers on tap. Sat outside on the patio, nice views, every meal there has been great, this one exceeded my expectations, keep em coming, thanks TJ's.

Tonight was our third trip to Tahoe Joes and the 3rd time we were served by Marcus. We will keep coming back because the food is GREAT and the service is GREATER! For the first time, my Joe's Steak was tough. I told Marcus. He took my steak and left my baked potato and green beans. Just a few minutes later I had a new plate of food, not just the steak. Plus my potato was fixed like I had it originally. I highly recommend you eat at Tahoe Joe's and ask for Marcus! Tony & Lise

I came here for a friend's birthday and I remembered why I haven't been here in so long. Brief Summary -- Parking lot gets pretty packed during peak hours -- Wait time was extended (waited over an hour) for my 15+ person party & we had a reservation -- Service was decent & attentive -- Nachos are huge -- Offers decent options for salad -- Bread is good when warm & if they bring you out some lol -- Steak was just ok, I've had better -- Veggies & green beans were good -- Chocolate cake is huge! (Didn't taste, just gasped) -- Cheesecake was decent, bottom was a bit thick Supposedly we had a reservation for 8pm, but by the time we were sat down at 9pm, about 5 of our 20 had left. It wasn't necessarily the restaurant's fault, as there were diners who had sat around and conversed for a while after finishing their food. Our server was actually pretty good. There were times when I wish he had filled my water quicker but it wasn't like he completely forgot. It's always hard to judge someone when they know they're getting 18% guaranteed. I thought it was weird that he waited to bring out the bread until after we got salads and soups? You would think after waiting over an hour for a reservation that bread would come out with drinks. I guess I'm assuming. I was impressed with Tahoe Joe's vegetables and salad options. I'm still attempting to eat Paleo as much as possible so I was very happy with my baby greens salad with gorgonzola and champagne vingerette. The green beans were decent. I ignored the tomatoes but the bacon was a nice touch :) I'm not 100& sure why I ordered the Twin Petite Filets instead of just getting Virginia City Filet, its the same price? Anyways I got that and it was just ok. The bacon wasn't that tasty and the garlic butter made it almost salty like popcorn. Of course I ate all of my food and the veggies instead of mash potatoes. My GF got what I should of ordered. I tried her mash, YUCK. Dry mash sucks. At the end of the meal, we got our bill and I really felt like we had been robbed. I've spent more on meals and felt like we got our moneys worth but for 3 of us it was $112 (including tip + bday boy's beer)! We had water! I think that's why I can't give them more than 3 stars. The meal to me was average at best, service was decent but again the 18% is a factor. I'd much rather have spent less and got a better steak down the road at Black Angus!

Tahoe Joe is a great place to have lunch at. The dinner menu is a bit more pricey . The service is and always has been good when we have visited. Nice and clean and staff is always friendly. Tahoe Joe's lunch menu is great. The soup and salad is combo is good and if you like 2nds they are free. The shrimp salad is very good and hamburgers beat any fast food dive any day. If you want a place to talk and have a good time it would be here. If you want to spend less there are a lot of fast food places along Contra Costa Blvd. to eat.

By far my favorite place for a Ribeye steak. It melts in your mouth. The veggies are seasoned and taste amazing. I love this place for a good steak. We had a problem back in the day but the manager took care of us and made it right. We had a problem with the something we ordered but I finally realized we had a new waitress which was still learning the bizz! So I gave them a break as I know what it's like to be a new person. I love the decor of the restaurant. It's decked out like a log cabin and is fun! Enjoy your steak!

Many people have many different kinds of reviews about this steakhouse. However, my experience here has been good, without exception. Since it's sort a long time ago now (more than a year) since I moved from the beautiful Walnut Creek area, recall is probably quite low and the review lacks some feeling. Nevertheless, I will say that the medium rare T-bone steak was both substantial (as might be expected) and delicious (which might not be). I do remember the juiciness. Just to put it in perspective, there was also an Applebees which I visited on Ygnacio Valley, which I remember thinking was rather bad. I did want to eat at this nicely done place (seemed carriage like) on the awesome Iron Horse trail, which I discovered while biking in the evenings. But then, I never felt up to it owing to the attire (one ought to give the place the respect it deserves, eh?) and that it's hard to context switch from biking mode to steak mode in such a short time window. It all makes me very nostalgic of the Walnut Creek area.

I used to go here all the time when I lived around the corner. The happy hour is really the way to do it! Sitting at the bar is always fun cuz you get to talk with a lot of the regulars (if you like that sort of thing) The Brave Hearts are a must and I love the chicken and steak salads. This is one of my favorite steak places. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is really nice.

After a couple of more visits to Tahoe Joe's, I have to downgrade my previous rating. We now have found that the undercooking of their steaks has not only become consistent, but is getting worse. During our last visit our steak came out rare despite ordering it at medium fire. We talked to the manager and he didn't seem to care all that much. We still really like the campfire shrimp as an app and the steaks are good once they get the temp right. But now we will have to try ordering our steaks well done and will only come here when we really don't want to cook.

I agree with other yelper Mashimaro M. that the interior is nice and the staff is friendly, but the food on the other hand was not so good. The railroad camp shrimp was a big disappointment, there were only 4 pieces and they weren't that great?! The sliders were not impressive, rather bland, I would recommend going to Claim Jumpers and trying their sliders instead. My friend got the cheese burger, which was ok. The best thing about the food was that we were there during happy hour so it was only $2.99 per item. We were going to get dessert, but there wasn't anything that appealing on the menu. 4 stars for the price....(1.99 or 2.99 for appetizers) 3 stars for the staff...friendk (friendly) 2 stars for the food.....so 3 stars overall

Verrry gooood. Slammin' soup of the day: CHICKEN POT PIE SOUP! Really really good and creamy! Also had the Railroad Camp Shrimp as appetizers. Very crispy! Served on top of a kind of asian salad--with wonton strips and yummy vinaigrette salad dressing. Then, DINNER for TWO--which was one order of the 10oz Prime Rib w/ mashed potatoes, and the other was 14oz Prime Rib w/ french fries. Prime Ribs were very juicy and cooked to a perfect medium. I highly suggest ordering the mashed potatoes over the french fries bcuz the fries were not good. Lastly, had a DELICIOUS (I mean, one of the best I've ever had) CHEESECAKE for dessert! It really did just melted in my mouth. Serving was huge and although it was a little sweet, the texture was phenomenal! I APPROVE! =) Decor was cute. Definitely felt like I was in a cabin at Tahoe. Our waitress was friendly, but I think she had a rough day.. could've smiled more IMO. Overall 4.5 stars!!! Thanks for the treat, D.

Awwww Tahoe Joe's! The first time I ate here was during their grand opening in November 2001. I immediately fell in love with this place. Within the past 10 years, I've celebrated birthdays, dinner dates, experienced acts of drunkenness and more.... I suggest you order the CENTER CUT PORK CHOPS!!! I promise, you won't feel cheated in any way! It's extremely moist, full of smokey and sweet flavor! I've ordered this countless of times and I've never had a bad experience.....(knock on wood) I especially love how they serve all their drinks in a old fashion mason jar! My favorite is their strawberry lemonade! YES, I said it, strawberry lemonade! LOL. The low lit ambiance and the lodge cabin decor gives this place a rustic feel. But what makes this place awesome is their HAPPY HOUR deals!!!!! GREAT food and drinks for a great price! Two thumbs ups!

Worse quality meat ever at Tahoe Joe's! They say their meat is aged to perfection of at least 28 days but I don't think that's true. I order the rib eye which should have the most marble in it but this piece of steak didn't have any. It was so tough that my jaw started to hurt after 2 bites. Steaks at Carrows and Denny's have better quality steak then this place. I had the waiter take it back and give me the filet which was better but the way he asked for me plate back was unbelievable. He asked for just the steak and left my name potatoes and veggies so I sat around for 10 mins just eating that. In my experience of eating at "steakhouses" they ask for the entire plate back and give you fresh new food including new veggies and a new bake potato. Not this place. Manager came back with my new steak and that was that. The original rib eye would have cost me 21.99 but since that wasn't any good and I had changed it to the filet which was 27.99, they charged me for the filet instead of the rib eye with NO type of comp for any inconvenience. I definitely would not order their steaks again

Went for a Sunday Happy hour. Had a party of 9, not much in the way of seating 9 people comfortably in the bar area so we took over two large booths. Had a great Server. Her name was Melissa I believe(horrible with names) The bathroom was trashed, this is a pet peeve of mine but I let the hostess know and I am pretty sure they took care of it though I did not look again. The concern in her voice showed me that she cared about the appearance of her job place however. Had the pork sliders, not great but good. I felt they were overpriced for happy hour, but good enough. Had the happy hour sized nachos. Amazing for the price. Had a nice smoky flavor to it and a good portion size. Had the Wings (happy hour portion) Good Price, good flavor. Had 2 of the Happy hour 22 oz beers, great price on those. The food was good, the beer was cold, the staff was smiling and happy to be there. Food came out quick, one small mistake from the waitress was corrected quickly and with a smile. A+ in my book on her. I am a finicky person when i do these restaurant reviews. 20+ years in the market, and I could say just from the outside packaging of this place, I would apply to work at this restaurant. And this says a lot. I have been back on 4 other occasions to this location at different times of the day. This Restaurant continues to impress me with the friendly service and quality of the food on most of our visits. The only issue I have had was my son and my mom ordering the "kids Meal" steak dinner and they both had their steaks overdone. Other than this, it has always been consistent in their food and service. I also love that they have some of the coldest beers on tap I have had in the area.

Tahoe Joes has some awesome Chicken Pot Pie soup and fantastic happy hour. The bartenders are very friendly too, just make sure you tip them and don't be a scumbag. They also have a Filet and Maine Lobster dinner for $39 bucks with all the trimmings. They have an all wood fired grill so your food comes out with awesome flavor. Only shortfalls is the place does need a bit of updating or a thorough cleaning. I will give it five stars if and when this is done.

I am a very harsh reviewer, but want to give Tahoe Joe's 5 Stars. We walked right in with no wait whatsoever. The place is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! Even the bathrooms are comforting and spotless! I saw 2-3 managers watching over the place, and going to each table. This is rare in restaurants these days, but i love seeing the managers around. I had the special (9 oz filet steak, and lobster tail). I also had crab cakes appetizer. My friend had the Twin 5 oz filets with garlic butter. The Crab Cakes were amazing!! All food was SO good!!!! Huge portions too, I had to take most of mine home! It said the lobster tail was 5-6 ounces. But I buy 5 ounce lobster tails pretty often at the grocery store, and this one at Tahoe Joe's was bigger than they advertised. Very good!! My friend took a bite into his petite filet and he only said "holy shit". With the garlic butter on top -- it was so soft and buttery! And wrapped in bacon! But here is the thing - here is why I am writing this review - the service was SO good, they could have served me a plate of poop and I still would have had a great dining experience - the service was THAT great! Our server was Candace. I cannot say enough good things about her service. I was a restaurant assistance manager for 12 years, and I know all the little tricks/tips to being a good server. She does it all. We had a sort-of complicated and high maintenance order. She got it all correct SPOT ON. Repeated it back to us like she had a photogenic memory or something. We NEVER sat without a water or root beer refill. She came to our table just at the right times. Not too much, not too little. She was polite, friendly, and she was ALWAYS nearby working her section of tables on the floor!! No one sat there with dirty plates - she did not hang out back in the kitchen. So if we needed anything, she was always nearby. She gave us a free piece of cheesecake (it was our birthday anyway, but we didnt tell her this) because we had to wait a few minutes while my steak cooked a little more. I left her a $20 tip. I also told the manager personally that her service was great! I have never had dining service so great, friendly, spot-on, attentive that it would not matter if I was served a plate of cardboard -- i would have left feeling like I had a great dining experience. (P.S. ALL the servers that I saw or overheard were also very friendly, attentive, personable -- even the hostess who greeted us, and thanked us as we left). This place, and our dining experience from Candace, sets the bar on what a true dining experience should look like.

Came here to celebrate my sisters graduation. I had a New York strip; different from the usual Rib-Eye I usually ordered. They cook the steaks spot-on. Still delicious like the first time we ate here a few years ago. Their calamari appetizer is the bomb! Tahoe Joe for me is probably the best steak-house chain restaurant around.

It was one of those rare days, when you could color the landscape with the original 8 Crayolas. Just finished some business in the neighborhood, and the lure of the sign brought us in. Been avoiding anything with "Steak House" in the description, because wife, having seen too many meat industry documentaries and having a friend's freshly killed rabbit for dinner has made her a vegetarian. I had a newspaper coupon for "$5 off 2 entrees", so in we went. Had to stop for a pix with the carved bear in front. The log cabin look was complemented by what could have been Snowshoe Thompson's original skis. (Yes, "Snowshoe" used huge skis to deliver the mail in the Sierra, where you find his original skis in every joint.) Kristin our wait person sympathized and took the initiative to put the beans from the nachos appetizer on the side, having a meat component. Everything was flavor! My 6oz "slow baked" Joe's Steak 9.99 needed no A-1. Available only in medium actually was the med rare I requested. The Blue Lake green beans were sauteed to perfection. The baked potato was huge, but Kristin put enough butter, sour cream and bacon on it to last to the very last bite. Wifey's Jackpot Nachos 10.99 similarly had flavor components to last to the end. Avocado, sour cream salsa and beans. Were the chips red, green and white for Mexico or for Christmas? Try though she might Kristin couldn't get the manager to accept the more expensive Jackpot Nachos as the 2nd entree. Coupon no good. Still worth the list price: 2 dishes and coffee and tea $35.45 including a 20% tip. I'll be back with visiting son, the only meat eater in his family.

When we were living in Concord, Tahoe Joe's was our spot to get steaks. We usually start with the Railroad Camp Shrimp as an appetizer. They are tempura-battered and deep-fried, served with a Asian-style salad. Or, if you're with a big party, get the Jackpot Nachos. One order is enough for a party of six. If you're in the mood for steaks, the get the 20-ounce Nebraska Rib-eye. While not the most lean cut, it's the most flavorful (fat = flavor!). If you want something else, I recommend either the Sierra Mountain Ribs (baby back) or the Pork Chops. Either one will leave you satisfied. But if you eat in, you must save room for dessert. While the chocolate cake is good, the Nevada Cheesecake is the best! One large slice is served on a thick graham cracker crust and a mound of house-made whipped cream. And if you're nice to the server, you may get a small cup of hot chocolate fudge on the side. It's the best way to finish off a great meal.

Another chain... Solid, decent steaks, burgers, sando's, etc... I can find a better burger down the street, but this is again a decent happy hour joint as well as a place you can go when no one knows what they feel like.

Tahoe Joe's is a great place. The happy hour specials are the best deals. 3.00 Draft beers+ 1.99 +2.99 choices of appetizer items. The "Joe's Camp Shrimp" is the BOMB.com !!! yes its off the charts with succulent flavor and dipping sauce. A must have every time we go! Joe's didnt receive that 5th star because of portion size. The dinner's ordered have gotten smaller. For example, I ordered dinner for two special which includes salad, prime rib and mountain mashers and the portions were smaller than they use to be. I prefer 10 to 12 oz of meat 8 oz and your really teasing me. Please bring back the 10 oz prime rib. I rate Joe's a step above Cattlemen's and Black Angus, just wish they could do a better job.

Updating for happy hour. Same 3 stars but we came the other day around 4 and it was empty in the bar and it STILL took like 20 minutes to get hot wings, chips and salsa and shrimp. Usually they will just bring out things as they come along right? I mean we got our drinks in an okay time but the food could have come out seperately. We got the buffalo wings, pretty tasty Shrimp-okay but a little too hard when I think they were aiming for crispy chips and dip-should have been free steak sliders-too much bread, not enough slider :( The beers come in this huge glass and margaritas are tasty, they come in the little jars as water does. Waiter service was good. Overall, for less than 30 bucks we got a tad tipsy and full so I say good job but service could be faster. Happy Hour isnt as happy when you are starving...

Do not ever, ever, ever go to Tahoe Joe's. They care nothing about the cleanliness of their restaurant. My boyfriend and I decided to stop through on the way from San Jose. There was plenty of screaming children to start off. We moved tables only to be sat by a giant dead bug on our table and in the windowsill. The manager didn't even try to clean it up. The food is a 1 star at most. My steak tasted like chemicals, not a wood fire.

I think the only reason they are in business is bc of happy hour. I was technically not there during happy hour but the menu looks worth the price. The drinks are not exactly strong but good. The rack of ribs are good but still chillis quality. The camp shrimp are horrible. Ewww can I have my money back? And the caesar salad was way too fishy. The best part might have actually been the butter and bread. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Well, I kept getting these mailers for specials from this place. I had never been before and just moved to the area, but it looked pretty good. So when I got my birthday coupon for a free cheesecake slice (which looked amazing!), I went. Yum. I guess it most reminded me of Black Angus, which I do like. I went at about 5 on a weekday, so it wasnt very busy and we recieved very quick service. I got the ribeye which came with greenbeens, salad or soup, and a choice of side. Wow, it was so tender! And it was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes I got were made from sratch with some yummy lumps in them and delish gravy. And the cheesecake! I guess some people might say it is overly sweet, but thats what I like, so it was all good for me. The crust is super thick and buttery, with a ton of whipped cream. I dont want to think about how many calories were in it, but I think it was worth it. Our waitress was really nice and friendly. I told her I kept wanting to call the place Trader Joe's, even though I knew that wansnt right. She told us she had a woman once that tried to use a Trader Joe's gift card to pay for her dinner, and though the waitress kept saying that she couldnt take it becasue it was for Trader Joe's, the women kept saying, yes, you can take it. Right, Trader Joe's, there is $50, its good. So, I guess it is not just me! Overall, good place with good service, and coupons are always nice.

I came here with a friend for a late dinner and although it was almost closing time, we still got great service. They checked up on us enough times that we weren't annoyed and our water glasses never ran empty. The cheeseburger I got was huge so I was able to have leftovers. It was no Gott's or TrueBurger but it was sufficed. Overall, it's a good place to eat if you want huge portions with a casual atmosphere.

I love this place. Why? Let's see... 1. The Dinner For Two special is a GREAT deal. We order from this special EVERY time we come in. 2. They usually get my prime rib correct... Which is medium rare of course. Maybe once or twice they have given it to me cooked medium, which is still OK. Their raw horseradish is HOT and I love it. 3. The waits aren't TOO bad and service is usually pretty good and you can always call in and put your name on the wait list. THE BEST THING ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT.... 4. THE CHEESECAKE. OMFG the CHEESECAKE. Home-made cheesecake AND home-made whipped cream... and that graham cracker crust... that CRUST! And be sure to request some hot fudge to pour on top of the cheesecake. It makes it THAT much better. Trust me.

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. My wife, three adult children, three babies and myself stopped in at about 1:30 pm. The place was not very busy. We were told it would be a few minutes while they prepared a table. Fifteen minutes later we were told the table was ready but they were looking for a server for us. About 20 minutes after that we were told they were still working on our table. Finally, at 2:20 pm we decided that we no longer wanted to wait and the hostesssaid it would only be 5 more minutes. We decided that it was no longer worth our time to stay. We told the hostess no thanks and while we were walking out, the hostess told some others waiting, "that is good now you won't have to wait as long." I will never walk into any other Tahoe Joes ever again.

If I were to base this review only on their Happy Hour-I would say 4 stars, but I also had their signature steaks and it was mediocre. Happy Hour consists of $1.99 and $2.99 items. That may sound like they might has some cheapy eats, but there are about 10 items on their and I can't remember them all. We had the steak sliders. Although a little dry, a little au jus made it all better. The overloaded fries-awesome, it's like a deconstructed fried baked potato. They even have their signature tahoe shrimp for $2.99. The shrimp are delicious. I would order two if you go because they are addicting. The steaks were very salty. They almost tastes like a thick cut of salted ham. We ordered a 6 oz and 10oz. Imagine how difficult that was to eat the entire thing-we didn't. However, I would give it a go again and try other lunch items on the menu because how can you beat their $1.99 and $2.99 Happy Hour menu. Quick tip: Happy Hour is somewhere around 11a.m-6:00p.m. I know weird time for SF folks because we only have two hours in SF. This is practically half the day, so when you have the time-come to the east bay and try this place out.

Needing a quick lunch while in Pleasant Hill? This is a somewhat reasonable spot for a good steak. 10 oz. of Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans all for $13.00....They didn't seem to get the concept of a client lunch here as they squished all four of us into an uncomfortably close booth, and seemed to interrupt every time we started negotiations, were not in San Francisco anymore! I would however come back with the BF after tolling the mall. It is what it is for a chain. About $60 for four people.

Actually, I should give it a zero. That's because I sat there waiting, and waiting, and no one waited on me. Every table around me --I was on the patio, had been given a menu by the hostesses inside and told I could sit anywhere outside--was waited on. I even waved my arm once (embarrassing to say the least) as a waitress walked back into the restaurant. Finally, I got up and left. (PS Went to BJ's, which is across the street--they were crowded, too, as it was Friday night, but the service was excellent.

Visited with my Aunt a few weekends back and remembered why I hadn't been back here in so many years. Or maybe this is a new reason to avoid Tahoe Joe's? I don't know. My "Joe's Steak" was tough as can be. Slow roasted and should have been tender, but instead it was hard to cut through all the gristle and meat. At one point I was worried I wasn't even going to be able to chew it properly. My aunt's prime rib, ordered medium rare, was nothing short of well done. Why was my slow roasted steak between medium and medium rare, when they told me it was impossible to order it that way, and yet they offered medium rare for her prime rib, and TWICE got it back gray and overcooked. The manager was nice enough to take the prime rib off the check, but I've never seen someone so apathetic to a poorly cooked meal in my life. Great place for a doggy bag, but do yourself a favor and skip your own plate altogether. The cheesecake was good, so 2 stars

I dragged my babes up mount diablo cuz I want to be Steven Seagal. After watching Hard to Kill I wanted to be like Steven Seagal running up in the mountains like Usain Bolt. But I am obviously too fat for that so I felt like a contestant on the biggest loser. After hiking 1/2 mile I got tired and I needed a steak to recover. We looked up cheap steak places and tajoe hoes came up. The burger is fresh frozen. The 20 oz ribeye was cooked perfectly but the meat is lower quality. I've had better cuts of beef from costco. Its was chewy and grisly. I almost choked a few times cuz I couldn't get the meat to separate. The quality overall is better than outback. The portions and large and the prices are very reasonable. If you are hungry and want cheap food this is the place to check out.

So gooood, so good! Service was superb from entry to exit. All the food came really fast. The double espresso martini was delicious, the salmon with garlic and brown sugar glaze was perfection, the double petite filet was phenomenal, and even the kids hot dog was extra tasty! The caesar salad was just ehhh, though, and the chocolate cake wasn't particularly exceptional. Now this place is comparable to Outback Steakhouse. But if they just add some things to their menu such as scallops and more dessert items, they might just be better.

It's amazing her starting with the foods, drinks & patio. I order the two 5 oz. petite filet Mignon with gorgonzola cheese & garlic mash potato it was so delicious. I also had the large Hefeweizen, how refreshing. The server was amazing, she was so attentive & sweet. I'll be coming back here & ask for the same server. ;)

Friendly staff, great looking meals. Check out the Sunday all-day happy hour - beers are cheap and the food is pretty good too!

This is one of my family's go-to places to grab some dinner. Mostly because everyone can find something they like on the menu and the atmosphere is good (you can actually hear the people at your table). Because of that I have been here many times, and I've never had a 'bad experience" here. There is always a decent amount of parking in the back lot

I was looking for a nice, middle-of-the-road steak joint, and Tahoe Joe's fit the bill. I had the twin fillets, and they were excellent, especially for the price. The green beans and potato were excellent as well. The salad was a bit lacking, but good enough. The chocolate cake was good, but not great; the presentation with the skier on it was cool, though. The service was good as well. Keep in mind that this is a steak place, not a salad bar or seafood joint, and you will do fine.

If you like nachos order the nacho appetizer to share with others. Really good and they are very generous with all of the toppings. I am not a fan of their ribs though. Too dry and not tender so skip those. Stick with a steak and baked potatoe here and you will like it.

I do not like giving bad reviews so I would be honest and say that everyone probably has a different experience depending on why you go to any restaurant. Service good... Food..not so great, in fact, for being a trendy restaurant, the food was actually pretty boring and not so great. Meat was cheap cut, not the prime would find at places like Outback, or my favorite Hungary Hunter. Salad, boring, like I made it myself at home. Meats not cooked and my husband swears it was not the prime cut he had ordered. It was more like stew meat. Side/Veggie..cold not really a great dinning experience for the money Go back? No. It seems to be mostly a trendy restaurant for bar hopping types. No draw for us now. The name drew us in and then we found out they dont even have a franchise in its namesake area of Tahoe!

Thanks in advance to Katy Perry for the butchering I'm about to do to her song Hot and Cold... Camp Shrimp's hot, drinks are cold Cheesecake: yes, steak rare: no Happy hour: I'm in not out Appetite's up and not down baked potato's salted--that's right filled w/ sour cream-white This is the place to "steak" up Calories saved you make up Dare I sing it? But I "heart" Tahoe Joe's. Here's why: ***$7.50 Grey Goose Martini: Enough said and if you go at Happy hour, it's $6.50...when I saw the bill I had to check the date on my phone to ensure I didn't time travel to before Y2k when the price of decent vodka at a restaurant wasn't 10/11 bucks a martini ***The cheesecake......Where did this rich, fluffy perfection atop a thick graham cracker crust come from? Was it delivered to me by angels? I fancy myself a bit of a cheesecake enthusiast and I swear I don't know how a steakhouse produced such a lovely slice of goodness ***Goodness gracious, great choices of sides: I'm less interested in the meat and more interested in all the good stuff that comes with it. Love the green beans that are interspersed with bacon. Love the 1 lb. baked potatoes rolled in salt, roasted and then brought to the table for the server to dress to your taste w/ butter, sourcream, chives and bacon. Love the mixed vegetables served a touch crunchy but fresh and flavorful. There are a few things of course that could stand improvement. I don't think I've ever seen them do a steak "rare" the first time around. If you ask for a bloody, "moo'ing" portion, it doesn't seem to make it to the table even pink--but they are always more than happy to try it again. And if you read my reviews you know how "me-no-likey-the-upcharge". Well subbing a baked potato for mountain mashers is $1.50 and last night was the first time they told me that outright... So this place isn't exactly Ruth Chris or Fleming's but it has great prices for everything you get. It has awesome appetizers (please try the camp shrimp--while it's true if you fried a shoe I'd try a bite, these tempura battered shrimp served with a tangy soy ginger sauce are awesome), And the BEST BEST BEST cheesecake.

I don't think I actually ordered anything to eat here. I had a couple beers and a Tahoe Tea (pretty sure thats what it was). If you have ever had the pleasure you know what hilarity can ensure from the likes of such as the Tahoe Tea. My friend who doesn't do drunk much ordered one of these. In less than it took for the rest of the group to be served their meals he was drunk and very happy about life. I ordered one myself and thought it was quite tasty. I'd go back just to have the Tahoe Tea..

Seriously, my boyfriend and I LOVE this place. Our food is always great and the Sierra Marys (spicy bloody marys with a side tumbler of Sierra Nevada beer) are our favorite drinks. We go here for birthdays, anniversaries, date nights, etc. My boyfriend usually gets the pork chops (2 10oz pork chops for $18.00 with awesome mashed potatoes and green beans) or some steak variety. I get the Wood Grilled Chicken Salad (for $12.99 mixed baby green, lightly seasoned chicken breast, tomatoes, candied walnuts, raisins, Gorgonzola cheese with a champagne vinaigrette. I add avocado and red onion and they never charge me extra). My other favorite is the Knob Creek Salmon (made with fresh salmon, Knob Creek whiskey, butter, brown sugar and mashed potatoes and veggies.) The best waiter they have is Saul. Very friendly, and always attentive. That guy deserves a raise. He always keeps the water/drinks filled and checks in and makes sure you food is right. We would for sure recommend this place to a friend. I can't wait to go back.

All day I was thinking about swordfish at Tahoe Joe's. It's typically thick, well prepared and served by a wait staff that really seems to enjoy their job. Tonight we started with the artichoke spinach dip. Very tasty. Good wine selection. Then we ordered our usual - swordfish. The salad came out fresh and delicious. As we finished the salad, our entree appeared to be served to us by a manager. Before we could say anything, he explained that the fish he was serving to us was not up to Tahoe Joe's standards. I looked at the fish and the piece was thin and dry looking. He said that there were no other pieces to serve, so the meal was going to be on him tonight. I was impressed with the fact that he was so proactive that he solved the problem before it became one. The fish was mediocre - the veggies fresh and delicious and the potato was yummy! Kudos! I will be back again and again!!!!!

This place is charmingly decorated Cabin-style. My drink had barely any alcohol in it, at least it was tasty. My Salad was perfectly cold and crisp, but just your regular diner-style salad. The bread rolls were nice and warm. My steak was cooked to my ordered medium, but was very stringy, obvious not the highest quality. The mashed potatoes were good, the beans were ok. I have this thing about beans: when fresh beans are frozen, they get a funny taste, and I could taste that at tahoe Joe's. The portions are generous and the service was good. We took our elderly friend for dinner and it was the perfect place for it.

I've been going to Tahoe Joe's for the last 5 years. Staff is always friendly. I only eat Rib Eyes so can't comment on anything else. The Rib Eye is mega delicious, served with a huge baked potato loaded of course. Crisp green beans and jars and jars of Arnold Palmer. Why would you get pasta at TJ? I don't get that : ) If you're a Rib Eye lover, you gotta give them a try!

Place looks very inviting, like a lodge up at Lake Tahoe, lots of dark wood and comfy booths. Food from the limited menu (basically steaks and stuff that can be eaten with them) is fine, not great but pretty good. Service can be spotty, our waitress was a trifle uninterested and forgot a couple of items we ordered, even though the place was half empty. One of the few places where they ask if you want dinner rolls with your meal (rather than just bringing them) and don't ask if you want refills (though they do bring them when requested).

My first time to this restaurant. I ordered a garden salad, prime rib and a baked potato. To drink I chose water, simply the server failed to ask me if I wanted add on another beverage choice. I would have had a simple glass of vino, the wine selection needs upgrading. My garden salad was fresh, crisp and pretty basic, the plate was chilled that was nice. The server avoided to ask me if I wanted fresh ground pepper so I got up and got it myself and the pepper grounder remained on the table for the rest of the night. Before I completed my salad my dinner was served. The prime rib was a more fatty than I would like. The quality of the meat was fair nothing exceptional, I was hoping they would have had fresh horseradish root that melts like butter on your meat, but they did not. They only offered prepared horseradish and minced horseradish. They also served a very large cup of Au Jus in case you want to go swimming. My baked potato was very large and filled with yummy butter, sour cream, bacon and green onions. My water was never refilled, dishes piled up on the table. The bill was on the table and server did not even ask how anything was nor did he ask if we wanted dessert. I am not sure I will return here.

We dropped the Tahoe off at Sears for an oil change and that translates into: "lets go get a cocktail while we wait". We were told 45 minutes and based on that and walking distance it became clear that Tahoe Joes was our only option. I've grumbled about them in the past and therefore had not returned to them in probably two years. We walk into an almost empty restaurant at about 1130 and head directly into the bar. We were greeted by a darling bartender from Texas named Paul - who said sweet things to me like "your smile is working for me" (after taking a bite of my husbands amazing clam chowder) and "follow your heart" (while trying to decide between the calamari and the railroad camp tempura shrimp) We went with the shrimp appetizer to share. HUGE. DELICIOUS. YUMMY. I'm glad I followed my heart on that one. You all know I'm a total long island ice tea snob and these did not disappoint! I hear the happy hour is bumping and may check that out some night - as long as my darling bartender Paul is pouring!

The interior and ambiance was great. So was the service. However, I cannot say the same for the food. The fillet mignon was very dry and I had to saw through the meat using all the strength and force that I could muster. At one point I thought I was going to pop a vein in my forehead... The baby back ribs were good and I ate my meal regretting having ordered the plate that I did. . . Alas. No more fillet mignon's at Tahoe Joe's...=( The other plates that I sampled from were pretty decent too but there weren't any veggies or sides that came with the orders. Everything is an extra $2.95 this or another $2.50 that. No refills on the sodas either... Too bad there are no half stars. If so, I'd give them a 3.5...

You can never go wrong with the Joe's for 2 special. Their Tahoe Joe steak is cured to perfection with mountain mash potatoes and veggies! With no corkage fee, we enjoyed a great meal. My guests ordered Prime rib was a little over cooked and the salmon was great. BEST CHEESECAKE for miles!! Thickly packed graham crust, creamy fluffy filling with fresh whipped cream... yum!

Happy hour on Saturday?! Effin' amazing! Dollar off draft beers, and $2 appetizers with drink purchase! Sooo many good choices: smothered fries, nachos, quesadilla, onion strings just to name a few... Beer selection could use a little work, but it's not the worst I've ever seen. They've got Newcastle and Stella as acceptable choices depending on the style of beer you like. The fries were oh so life shorteningly delicious, and the onion strings were tasty as well. For $2 you can't go wrong with any of the choices though. Bottom Line: Looking for a good start to a Saturday night? Tahoe Joe's is a great option if you're near one of their locations. I'm craving those appetizers already...
